What a beautiful and varied park! Stone formations, lakes, prairie, wildlife, forest...it's all here. Start at the visitor center. Wildlife loop road heading south from there is where we saw tons of bison, donkeys, and other wildlife.

This park is full of excellent hiking trails, the wildlife loop road (with tons of animals), lakes... so much to see and do. Pay your $20 for a week-long pass and enjoy it all. Well worth it.

I just returned from a visit to Custer State Park. Each time I visit the park I am amazed at the abundance of wildlife and great photos I come home with. It seems that winter is the best time to visit as there are few people and the wildlife come from the higher elevations to graze. On my last visit... More

Must visit the park, the green lands are wonderful completely opposite to the Badlands, while driving you must see the Bison any time, they may come in flock, but stop and keep inside the car and don’t excite them. For donkeys, is completely different, there are friendly and funny like to play and looking for food, you can come out... More

Great park to drive through with alot of wildlife viewing opportunities. We were able to see a number of bison, pronghorn, and prairie dogs close up. The park is beautiful and would recommend driving the loop.

We went to Custer State Park in August, and the grounds and weather were absolutely beautiful. I remember we had to go in a particular way, because we were driving a class A motorhome, so if you are in an RV, make sure that you get directions before hand on which way to enter the park. The visitor center was... More

Very nice well kept area, was a great distraction and plenty of animals. The donkeys even offered a free car wash to remove the salt from our truck. Take your time to enjoy the beauty, don't rush thru it.

We went here w 2 elementary age kids and had a spectacular time. The water surrounding all the hiking trails was simply gorgeous. We went in September, just after Labor Day, no crowds. We did a few small 30 minute hikes and then had a picnic lunch. There is a cute little rental shop for paddle boards/kayak etc and the... More

Amazingly beautiful country! I was on a tour bus and we had a "step-on guide". When we got to the entrance, one of the park rangers stepped on the bus and as we drove through the park she told us all about it, the history, the animals, and many interesting stories. I especially enjoyed hearing about & seeing the buffalo.
