We were able to see buffalo, dear and pheasants...oddly there was a little snow a couple of days before so we were also able to see a few patches of snow. It was a very beautiful drive.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting all of the different locations within Custer State Park. We stopped at several of the gift shops, camp stores, etc. and all of them were well stocked.

Another of America's gems. Big park, lots of wildlife and a sense of what our country looked like before we lied, cheated and stole every inch of land there was. You just can't go wrong visiting our great National Parks.

There is pretty much something for everyone in the Custer State Park/Black Hills area. Mt. Rushmore, the Mammoth Site, Wind Cave National Park, the towns of Custer and Hill City, and a great deal of wildlife. We stayed at Blue Bell Campground. Although the site...More

All we got to see was a couple of mules, we were told where the buffalo were but didn't see any. Not a lot else in the park other than deer.

My husband and I are arriving in Keystone to stay two night. My two questions are 1. How late can one visit Mt. Rushmore? and 2. I wnat to spend the next full day touring the Black HIlls. Is it possible to visit Custer State Park and do the Wildlife Loop? What other notable sights are there to see? Thanks

Might try get.sd.gov/calendar.aspx for events calendar. Other than open house weekend May 19-21, I didn't see any fishing events at Custer State Park.

With a Ford F-350 what road would you advise NOT to take. What should we not miss that we can make it with this big truck. So far the Wildloop road but was hoping we could do more. Thank you.
