Address
Neighbourhood: Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.

Went on a campus tour on August 15. The campus is absolutely gorgeous! Lots of green space and old buildings! Lots of coffee locations were available on campus and temporary classrooms fill once empty spaces due to social distancing guidelines. Tulane is still allowing students on campus for the fall semester and we were there on move in weekend. The student body seemed very lively and willing to follow the new guidelines. Only downside was that it was HOT outside.

Oddly, we had stayed in the Garden District 2 years ago and never stumbled on Tulane. This time we were driving through and came across Loyola and then next up was Tulane. Drove around campus and got a good sense for the layout. Small school with all athletics on site. Pretty campus on the front end. Dorms look a little well worn. Sorority and fraternity houses are all close to campus. Right across from Audobon Park.
I know a student that came here and loved it and Princeton Reviews says these are some happy students and I do understand why.

You can take the St. Charles line from the French Quarter, uptown to this beautiful, historic campus. It's very walkable and has a huge bookstore with apparel and more.

In the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans is Tulane University. Tulane is is a high energy college that has a lot to offer. It was founded as a public medical college in 1834 and became a comprehensive university in 1847. The school's law and medical school are among the best in the country. The school is Division I in sports and has form players in professional sports.

We recently drove by this very beautiful campus of Tulane in New Orleans and marveled at the scenery of both the buildings on St Charles Have.

Extraordinary private university in a perfectly imperfect city that has stolen my heart. The last 4 years have been mind-blowing. We have had the good fortune to watch Tulane University shape our daughter into the young adult she is meant to be. Couldn’t be more excited to attend her Commencement in two days!

This is a high level education institution with a lot of history and great prestige. The campus is mixed with the city itself, gorgeous buildings and landscape. beautiful main entrance with nice architecture throughout the campus buildings.

Since the 1920s, Tulane University has been doing archaeological research in Mexico and Central America. There is a museum of Mayan history and culture on the third floor of Dinwiddie Hall -- literally just steps from the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line. This museum is definitely a "hidden gem"; most tourists and many New Orleans residents don't know it exists, but it's very well-done and informative. It's a must-see for anyone who is interested in indigenous history and culture.

A ride on the trolley to see St. Charles Street and the accompanying beautiful neighborhoods is not complete without walking on Tulane's beautiful campus. Be sure to see the tree that is covered with bead necklaces from the annual Mardi Gras. It shows that fun is not far away at any time at Tulane.

A private, rigorous university with many graduate programs. Undergrad pop usually around 8,000. Tuition and fees are up in the 50K range but most students receive some financial aid. Pretty campus in the "Garden district" neighborhood with the beautiful Audubon Park across the street which the students take advantage of biking and walking paths.

Hi. I'm planning to visit Tulane with my 17 yr. old (Junior) High School daughter... any suggestions for an evening or day activity that would be fun after we tour the University? Also, where would you stay to get "both" worlds?
