We visited Fritzel's one afternoon towards the end of our stay in New Orleans before going back to our hotel. We normally avoided Bourbon St, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The musician was amazing (Richard Scott), an the atmosphere was pleasant. Don't...More

My absolute favorite jazz bar when visiting New Orleans. Located at the end of Bourbon street this spot is hoppin' but not overrun with drunk tourists. The vibe is casual, the music is intoxicating, and the drinks are solid. An absolute must if you're looking...More

This is a great place to visit - right on Bourbon, one drink minimum. We loved the jazz band that was playing. You don't need reservations and so it's a little less hectic to get in as compared to Preservation Hall. Plus the location makes...More

I would like to give "Daytime Fritzels" a HIGH rating and "Nighttime Fritzels" a LOW rating. Daytime: Not crowded, great seats, fantastic pianist. No drink minimum, stiff drinks. Nighttime: Door people card and seat you with IMEADIATE drink minimum. I asked for water first and...More

This is one of the last, or the last place, to play Dixieland jazz. Really traditional. It's a great place to hang out where you feel like you are a part of something special. I can't be the only one who feels this way, it's...More

Had a drink and sat about 6 feet from a great jazz band. This is what New Orleans is all about! Small place and limited beers, but a very enjoyable bar to hang out with some music. Fritzel's was our highlight on a mostly dingy...More

Went there in the afternoon with only a handful of other bar dwellers. Was lucky there was an incredible pianist and singer playing. The backdrop is one straight out of a magazine. Loved every minute of it.

Amidst all the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street Fritzel's is a real oasis. If you want to have a really relaxing time without having your eardrums blown out then this is the place.

French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living
lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty

across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied
around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively
well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the

They can't get into the bar, but there are lots of other places where jazz bands play. I would suggest a restaurant.

The first set starts at 9:00; they play @ an hour, take a break, and so on throughout the night. You may sit through as many sets as you would like - they don't make you clear out. And we have never been bugged to buy... More
