Frenchmen street is fun and you can hear some awesome local Jazz bands. The people were all very friendly.

We found the some of the best food and music on Frenchmen St. It was a little too far from our hotel to walk but an easy Uber ride. This is where the locals go rather than the French Quarter - highly recommend it.

It's a nice break from the hustle of bourbon St with excellent music and a good selection of food. Easy to walk too and safe.

In comparison to the many other attractions of New Orleans, Frenchmen Street is small in size and stature but big on the entertainment and food. We actually stayed on this street and enjoyed the nightly live music and food at several of the restaurants. If...More

If you're looking for some jazz, we were told this is three place you go. We took an uber from the French Quarter to Frenchman street and enjoyed a few hours of jazz and some beverages. We only visited one club while there, but from...More

Probably my favorite part about New Orleans. From the lively brass band playing on the corner, to each individual bar/club with great bands, it was an overwhelming experience in the best way possible. So much fun and it was like a big block party.

After hanging around Bourbon Street for a few evenings, we were told to try Frenchmen instead. The French Market is at the end of the street which is nice to wander around and then there are lots of good restaurants playing live music all day...More

Forget Bourbon Street, which we found a little seedy, although I would certainly go there for the experience. But Frenchmen Street is just how we imagined New Orleans to be. Lots of Clubs / Bars to choose from. Restaurants; Street Musicians. A really great atmosphere....More

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining

Snug Harbor for sure! It might be a bit pricey compared to the walk in to a bar off the street spots available on Frenchman Street, but well worth it. High caliber music, intimate setting, and not an open bar atmosphere... More

Over would not stay on Frenchman. Stay by French markets/ Jackson square then you can walk there to the river etc. It's a quaint little area. That's where I'm going to take my kids
