It has not been in operation on my last couple visits. :( When I was there during the day with my sister& nephew, it was enjoyable. However, night time is the best time to go. The lights change colors& the water fluctuates. The lakefront is the best spot in the city to watch the sunset. My suggestion is to watch... More

Located about ten miles north of the French Quarter, tourists rarely make it to this fountain on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain. The Mardi Gras fountain has recently undergone a complete and exciting renovation with programed color changing lighting and dancing water effects. Work is nearly finished and the grand opening will be announced soon.

This was an awesome sight years ago but the levee board has not kept it up since Katrina. Prior to that it was given a face lift, but hasn't spewed water in years and years.
