Cool place, small, but fun to walk through

There were all the things you would expect in a tourist voodoo shop. The staff was nice to me, I enjoyed looking around.

Went into store 3 times on 3 different days. Was looking to get a reading done and find out more about voodoo dolls. No one on the staff made me feel like they wanted me in the store. Left with no merchandise or readings cause of it.

So sure, if you're in New Orleans, you have to visit a Voodoo shop, right? Also, hey, you're in New Orleans and you've been singing "Witch Queen of New Orleans" by Redbone to yourself the whole time so OF COURSE you have to go to Marie Laveau's. I didn't quite know what to expect when I got there, so I... More

Had to go to an actual voodoo shop! Really is that it?! Carved masks dark interior everything crammed together the stench of incense and wannabe young voodooists talking about this potion and blah blah....I've been....please don't curse me for this average review.

Purchased a doll here. Found excellent customer service and had all of our questions answered. We did not feel that we were being patronized even though we were obviously new to purchasing voodoo articles. Found the shop to be great to walk around and filled with too many things to look at the all.

My first impresdion was that the place is loaded with tourists. So I took my time and waited till the whole bunch of lightly drunk people went out. Then I felt more confortable and I found some very nice gifts for me and my friends. The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. Take your time, stay a... More

Great place to buy souvenirs! However, I learned on my Voodoo tour from Crescent City tours (Sandy was a great tour guide) that for more authentic items, you should visit Voodoo Authentica. I visited both!

It's hard getting into the tiny two-room shop on a Friday. Employees were helpful and polite. There's interesting murals and an altar. There is plenty of Voodoo and Wiccan supplies along with metaphysical books.

Who doesn't want to visit a voodoo shop while in New Orleans? The owners know this, and play up on the Voodoo Queen's name. There are all kind of interesting things in the shop that will suit most tourists just fine, and might even give them a little bit of a shock. But, the store is small, crowds easily, and... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
