On our December trip to New Orleans, we had the opportunity to spend some time, once again, in the Lower-Garden District, though mostly along St Charles Ave. We took the St Charles Ave Streetcar to the Pontchartrain Hotel, to meet family for Brunch at the...More

The Garden District has always been considered to historically run from Louisiana Ave to Jackson Avenue, and St, Charles Ave to Magazine. Just ask the folks who pay the huge security services taxes in that area every year and who belong to The Garden District...More

We stayed in the Lower Garden District and walked around. Beautiful historic homes and many great places to eat. The neighborhood is old and so are the sidewalks - pay attention for imperfections.

We took the St. Charles streetcar here ($1.25 exact change only) and enjoyed the trip through downtown. Once we reached the garden district the street opened into a stunning wide avenue lined with huge old trees and Spanish moss. We hopped off at 3rd and...More

Beautiful homes. Some are in better shape than others. Stay away from the tour leaving from the bookshop! It was terrible! Stood 45 min in the sun (got a sunburn) to hear in incorrect historical facts and a few offensive religious comments. We paid $20pp...More

Our hotel (Prytania Park) was in this area and we loved it. Great variety of places to see, visit and eat. If you like pizza, you definitely need to try the pizza place called Slice. It was really good.
