Have spent too much time in the French Quarter and not wandered too far away, what a mistake. This is so close but is absolutely wonderful, a vibrant neighbourhood with history and char, lovely old homes but so different to the Quarter.

It's a nice walk on the north side of the Quarter. it is being transformed a little more, but there are lots of older run down buildings as well.

If you want to see some of the older homes of New Orleans, this is a must see area. Lots to see, many different styles, and away from the French Quarter bustle

If you want to stay in the French Quarter area but also want to avoid the mess that is the Quarter, head a little east to the Marigny. Similar feel and style, but a very enjoyable experience!

We stayed in the Marigny District in a VRBO and bounced back and forth between the Quarter and Marigny. This was a wonderful change from staying in the Quarter and only doing Quarter activities.
