The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the gift shop seems to have some interesting stuff in it. Also, if you're checking out the cemetery nearby (St Louis Cemetery No 1) and need to use the restroom or grab a quick snack, this is definitely a great option!

check out this building because you will learn a lot about the hurricane katrina and the city it flooded - you will find trains, gifts, and all kinds of interesting stuff - you can have a cup of coffee too.

We just finished Basin St. Station's tour of the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. It was a great tour and very informative. Charles Duffy kept it funny while also interesting. Great tour!

Nice restore old train station with some local train history, gift shop, restaurant and bathrooms. Good place to start. Information, tours, rides etc. Easy parking. W/C accessible. Great view of the New Orleans from top floor restaurant. Cemetery right next door

Enjoyed our visit here on the way to St. Louis Cemetery #1. Beware in the evening. Kind of shady in those hours. Doesn't necessarily feel safe to return or leave from your car. We rented a bike cab the last night.

This is the hub for the city sightseeing bus. It's an old depot, now a museum. Lots of train history and photos...plus a giftshop and several people to help you with any tourist questions.

This old station is full of the glory days of the iron horse. Displays take you back in time. Movie is a must for you to see. Starting point for the cemetery tour. Also a stop for the hop on and off red bus.

We were in Louisiana for a month, and across the causeway from New Orleans, so we drove in to the Quarter maybe 6 times while we were there. This was the perfect parking spot and visitor center for us, and we went in every time. There's history, tourist info, books, gifts, souvenirs, clean bathrooms, and VERY pleasant and helpful staff.... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
