This historic neighborhood, while quiet and tree-lined, can be hip as well. A Jazz Walk of Fame is scheduled to be built here.

I've ridden this bike trail across the top of the River levee several times, For the most part, it was a well-maintained paved bike trail. It was opened in 2013. This section is only two miles long but you can take this bike trail for...More

We took the ferry and were summarily dumped off to roam about. The locals advised us that there are no attractions - just a different view of the Quarter. Don't wander too far - stay on/near the levy.

If you want to get out of the crowds for a bit and walk, jog or bike, this is a good place to do it. You also get a nice view of the city across the river.

The drive to the Algiers section gives you a perspective on local living. The Corner Bar is nice and layed back and a stroll along the bank is not bad either.

Walk, bike, or run. This is the place. Closest bathroom is at Dry Dock Café. Stop and chat with passers by.

After you get off of the ferry, walk to the right and you will find yourself on the levee. It is a long, concrete promenade, good for walking, running, biking. There are benches where you can sit and look over at the skyline of the...More

Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the
rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s
second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as
scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With
its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and
plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling
and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the
best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven
