This historic neighborhood, while quiet and tree-lined, can be hip as well. A Jazz Walk of Fame is scheduled to be built here.

We loved it! A trail to walk, ride bikes, or run along the river overlooking amazing views of Nola and the Jackson Square Cathedral. Has lightening for nighttime strolls, felt very safe and was clean. Found a hidden treasure today!

I'm really laughing at some of the post on here. I rode the levy from Federal City to Gretna, had brunch and the River Shack, and rode back. The River Shack is one of the best bar and grills in Gretna. Also there are several...More

To start with ya take a ferry less than 5 minutes and they take you for two bucks. No biggie, but in NYC a slightly higher standard of living and you can ride 20 miles all day for under $3. so not a great value....More

Beautiful views of the city and the river. Paved near Algiers Point and to Gretna. Loose gravel to the Chalmette ferry. Bring water as there is only one fountain. No bathrooms on the trail itself.

Not really worth coming for itself, but if you're already in Algiers, you may as well check it out. You get a view of the skyline but quite frankly, NOLA's skyline isn't that interesting. I don't recommend walking here at night as it's pretty isolated.

This is a nice spot for a stroll along the Mississippi River across from the tourist area of New Orleans. Great spot for photos of downtown at sunset.

This is a very high levee that is fun to climb and offers great views. It is a good place to walk and take in the views.

I've ridden this bike trail across the top of the River levee several times, For the most part, it was a well-maintained paved bike trail. It was opened in 2013. This section is only two miles long but you can take this bike trail for...More

We took the ferry and were summarily dumped off to roam about. The locals advised us that there are no attractions - just a different view of the Quarter. Don't wander too far - stay on/near the levy.

If you want to get out of the crowds for a bit and walk, jog or bike, this is a good place to do it. You also get a nice view of the city across the river.

Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the
rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s
second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as
scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With
its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and
plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling
and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the
best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven
