Fried Pickles & The Hot 8 Brass Band!

This was a hole in the wall that I could appreciate. We arrived late in the night and the band had been playing hard. There was a cover at the door ($10). It was like brass band... read more

Waited for 45 min for a simple jambalaya. Food lacked substance, was mainly uncle ben's rice and two or three small pieces of chicken and sausage. Not recommended at all.

I came across Howlin Wolf while attending a conference in New Orleans. I was walking back to my hotel around 11 PM from a reception that I thought would serve food, but did not serve what I had expected. Howlin Wolf had a sign out that the kitchen was open, so I had thought I would place a quick carry... More

Dropped in for beer and a burger back in July. The kitchen was right at the entrance and there was a counter, so I stepped up and ordered a burger before grabbing a stool. The guy cooking grunted at me that he didn't take orders and to talk to the waitress. Not a great ambassador for the pub. I heard... More

We stopped in at the Howlin' Wolf on a rainy Sunday afternoon just looking for a quick snack and were pleasantly surprised at the friendly and welcoming bar. We were in New Orleans celebrating two 21st birthdays, and the bartender was great at making suggestions and giving samples to help the newbies figure out what they liked. The bar had... More

We visited on Sunday the 23rd of July! First of all the server. She was amazing and despite her busy role she managed to stay on top of and remember individual orders etc. We have travelled extensively and I would say she is the best we have come across! Thank you. The Hot 8 are in my top 3 and... More

First visit 4.23.16. New Orleans is home to some of the best music on earth and some of the worst venues at which to see it. The Wolf fits that bill, unfortunately, committing most of the major sins of the city's lousier music clubs. It's an uncomfortable, uneven concrete slab which in places tilts away from the stage. There's almost... More

This was a hole in the wall that I could appreciate. We arrived late in the night and the band had been playing hard. There was a cover at the door ($10). It was like brass band open mic night. Jacquees was suppose to sing at 10 pm, Lousy DJ played instead. Security told me they are not responsible for the performers not showing up. I paid over $100 for the tickets.

When you take some of the most smokin' musicians on the planet as a line up in tribute to the Godfathers of Heavy Metal and set them in a legendary New Orleans blues bar one night before Halloween there is an electrifying magic in the air. As the band lays down a solid set of Black Sabbath, pouring out a... More

We came here to see Kacey Musgraves on 10/09/11. Her show was fantastic, but Howlin' Wolf could have been a little better. First, the bar was understaffed and clearly not equipped to deal with such a large number of people. They were running around like crazy, and when opening a tab, their system seemed to be a little unsafe (they... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
