Good place to people watch. Beautiful architecture. You'll see street performers galore: musicians, painters, tarot card and palm readers. Very eclectic group!

Love Jackson Square! So much art to see. Great place to stop for a drink or a bit to eat. Pay attention to the street performers who break dance....they are very entertaining!

When you visit the French Quarter you must take a stroll to Jackson Square so much to see, always can find music almost any time of the day or night. The street vendors are a huge part of what makes up the square. One of my favorite things to do .

Great spot with amazing, and affordable, artists/art surrounding the square. We went back on several days and new artists seem to appear daily. Beautiful church and fun live entertainment throughout the day. A must see/do.

We strolled through and around Jackson Square the day we were in New Orleans. This is a great place to experience the diversity of the French Quarter. The artists and foods and local and international visitors are all there. There are street vendors and artists as well as shops that surround the square. It is a blocks walk to the... More

The cathedral is hundreds of years old and in pristine condition. Outside of the cathedral you will find vibrant musicians, street artists, and plenty of visitors to this astonishing site. It's magnificent and free!

This is a great place to go walk around and enjoy the scenery and vendors in the area. Plan for at least an hour to soak it all in.

It's sad that what should be a lovely locale is weighed down by so much unattractive baggage - it is hard to appreciate the beauty of this space because 'ugly' is everywhere around you. Go - it is the heart and soul of the Quarter and NOLA, but what will tug at your heartstrings is not the sense of place... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
