The size and location of the capitol building is impressive enough but the inside is truly magnificent. The mosaic tiles are spectacular and the cleanliness of the whole building is remarkable. We did our own tour with their printed guide as we had missed the...More

It has beautiful grounds, marble flooring and columns, stately governor’s office, senate, assembly and Supreme Court rooms, and, best off all, protesters who have gathered every day since Scott Walker’s election in 2011. They sing protest songs at noon...More

This building is very beautiful and well worth the 45 minutes to explore the individual chambers and learn the origin of the beautiful marble and history, all at no cost.

Wisconsin has one of the most beautiful state capitols, from the stunning mosaic in wthe dome to the beautiful stone materials in the floors and ceilings. Perched high in the middle of the city’s isthmus, it is a must see while in Madison.

You have to go inside to appreciate this architectural treasure. Take time to ready the history and tour several floors.

Actually, the tree is dragged (!) inside the Monday after Thanksgiving. It takes a few days to decorate it, and the official lighting ceremony is that Friday, this year, Dec. 1. (I've worked there for 16 years.)
