Beautiful Coast

Check out the beautiful scenery out there. It is on the northeast part of Taiwan and it is less crowded and lay back than the big cities. Hope you like it.

Guishan, literally means Turtle Island, is in the most northern water of Taiwan. The highlight is dolphin and whale watching. We cruised around the island on a 80-passenger ferry. The whole tour was about 2 hours. A tour guide patiently explained the history and characteristics of Guishan. We were a little bit skeptical in the first place as we have... More

We bought a island trekking + dolphins watching tour package . It is really fantastic island . Worth spend about an hour to walk around with the guide . Old temple , old school , army fort , lake view ...all are so special to us . The boat ride also gave us really fun & excellent experience where we... More

We bought a round island boat ride that take approximately 4 hours in total. However, luck is not on our side as we din't manage to spot any dolphin. Nice briefing of introduction and history of the island by the boat captain duh.

We set out from Wu-Shih Port. Regulations require registration in advance, so normally tourists resort to travel agents. The transfer of ferry took around 40 minutes. There were some remains respectively from the residential period and troop-ruling period. Not much to see, but we still had fun.

Had lots of fun spotting dolphins, saw at least 40; and the island is also really interesting. English signs everywhere, so you don't miss too much of the Chinese tour.we could actually just walk by ourselves and return when the boat left.

We boarded a ferry to spot whales and dolphins. Although we only spotted one and got terribly sunburnt, the overall experience was really fun and exciting! Taiwanese are really warm and helpful and we felt like a big family on the ferry. The island has a rich history and was interesting to learn about. We did not hike up as... More

I visited here in 2010 as part of my Fulbright experience. The Island itself was very educational, housing remnants of Taiwan's military past. Keep in mind though, if you are going to visit the Island, choose a day when the Ocean is calm. Friends of mine attempted to take a ferry there right after a typhoon. They spent the entire... More
