    Sumi Tours and trips
Riu hotel is fabulous! But even better is Sumi ! We booked our day excursions with a guy called Sumi at the beach gate entrance from the hotel .His services have been phenomenal. Don’t hesitate to book with Sumi . He lives just a stones throw away from the hotel and the attention to detail and thoughtfulness is second to none . We travelled to Sigiriya rock ,elephant national safari & river tour . Planning and execution was perfect and we beat the crowds every time . There are a few tuktuk guys at the beach gate and you may feel nervous and intimidated, don’t be , but ask for Sumi and everything is great . The trips cost much less than the TUI trips which allowed us to do more ! And we had our own mini bus and guide which made the whole experience truly special . Any trip can be tailored to you and your family’s request also . We’d give 1 million ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ He made our trip a holiday of a lifetime ❤️

    Sampath Tours
The beach is beautiful for walking - uncrowded and there are a couple of great spots for drinks and food. Many there trying to sell tours however I would definitely recommend Sampath Tours. He does not work from the beach but is used by some of those agents. Sampath is a driver/guide from The Heritance and personally serves management from The Riu. He is extremely attentive, polite, knowledgeable and has a modern very well cared for car. We used him for several long trips and everything worked perfectly. His phone number is +94 76540 2575.

Without exception an amazing beach resort with a fabulous hotel and tuk tuk driver Raja!
An amazing beach washed by a warm Indian Ocean. We stayed at the RIU hotel right in the beach which was fabulous! Great food and people! We used a very reliable tuk tuk who took us everywhere. Very safe, courteous and reliable. We couldn’t recommend more. Raja is ex military so a very sound background. +94 77 417 0855

    The best massages
If you ever visit this beach don’t miss a small house 150-200m walking left from the Riu Hotel. The best massages we ever get anywhere. After a few visits I feel obligated to spread the word about the humble man Mr Chandima doing these massages. Small house hidden in a jungle shadow just before the Junge Beach restaurant. You can relax with massage and hear the ocean waves. In case you would like to book your massage WhatsApp +94 77 160 8356

    Banzy Tours
We happened to run into Banzy on our stay at the RIU Hotel Ahungalla. We ended up booking all of our day trips with him, and so glad we did! He really took care of the 9 of us. Gave lots of advice, very good pricing compared to other big tour companies and he always had our best interest at heart. We did all of the best activities with no hassle or any confusion/issues. Strongly recommend him for any tours you need in Ahungala!

A really nice beach with nice bays and a view point at one end. Not too many people, but once guests from Riu head out you also encounter local "sales" people. Amazing views in the early morning sun

Calm, quiet, private. There are a few dogs on the property who will adopt you with a sniff over test and they will keep you company, albeit at a respectful distance unless you beckon them closer. Early morning, on the beach with your dog... bliss...

Beautiful sandy beach. Good for a long walk. Sea is beautiful and warm (January) but it can be quite rough and there are strong rip tides and undercurrents. The sea bed goes from very shallow to deep in literally a few feet and the can be shallow again a few feet further out. Beach is pristine and loads of room not to have to be near anyone else.
Slight down side is the number of vendors on the beach. Most are Ok but some don't understand the wrod NO.

Fantastic beach .. ok June/ July isn’t the best time to come because of rough seas but saying that we have had fantastic weather in the 30s and because it’s out of season you miss the crowds . Rains for 10-15 a day sometimes but that helps to keep down the humidity . If you want to anywhere in in Sri Lanka on the beach there’s a great guy called SAM he’s a giant but a kind and friendly one which won’t cheat you , he does the same tours as the hotel for half the price!
