Black sand beach, river bar with long peeling lefts and rights. Steep gnarly take offs, but mellow walls. Not great for beginners but an awesome sport to grow some balls and have s go at some big waves. Can be surfed at all tides but best mid tide to mid tide through high. Mornings are best as the wind can... More

Great surf for beginners or advanced. Board hire available. Good food options and well priced (most with awesome views). Good massage (Iluh at Bella Spa). Great remote surf. Black sand beach but still very scenic (though could do with a litter clean up). Ask locals about the rip before swimming or surfing.

The black sand beach for beginner surfers. The cafes along the shore - is where to eat. Board rental is available.

Stayed for three days.. Love the beach and the little local eateries.. Great Place is Balian beach camp right on the beach for a meal of drinks.

Stayed in Balian for 1 week with the family. The beach is a swell magnet and of all the places visited it was the most consistent and had the best waves of all. The beach isn't particularly beautiful. There are pretty decent eating options. It seems there have been a few shark attacks at this beach in the last few... More

I think leaning how to surf there is better idea than in the bigger congested beaches. There are friendly instructors and rental gear. And a part of the beach that has "beginner level" waves.

The beach is quite rocky and there was the usual rubbish there that is dumped mostly by the river. The water is more for surfing than swimming and not for anyone who is not a confident swimmer.

I found this place by chance as the rain caught up to me while driving a motor scooter down the west coast down from Gilimanuk. Actually a nice lady named Wayan found me as I looked lost and confused. She had me follow her to her villa that she runs with her husband. For 150,000 rupiah I was pleasantly surprised... More

There is a big problem with rubbish which is dumped next to rivers and streams and during raining season has been washed into the ocean. Was shocked to see the beaches both in Kuta and WakaGanga full with washed on rubbish. It put me off. This rubbish is a health risk and hazard and needs to be taken seriously.
