This beach is such a hidden gem. Kedungu surf school are a bunch of local guys that really look after you with such generosity that you will think you are in the “real Bali” of years ago. In fact, all the local people who have little shops at the beach are wonderful. There is even a great restaurant 50m away called “The Fat Hog “ which is a great family venue with sumptuous, affordable food. It’s a great atmosphere with very well trained staff. For somewhere to stay, there is a hostel called “The Swell”, its a very clean, cheap accommodation option and also a great selection of hipster food (Delicious).

Cool beach with great waves and my six years old son was in love with the place. All locals are so warm welcoming and nice people.

Kedungu Beach located only 9 miles away from my family home in Tabanan, Bali. It is a quite and peaceful beach with black sands, away from tourist areas such as Sanur, Seminyak or Kuta. There are several villas near by that you can rent at a very reasonable price. Here you can enjoy a quite romantic evening watching the sunset. Negative point: it needs a good & clean public restroom.

With a bit of a road upgrade this beach is now more accessible than it has been in the past . The number of blue soft top hire boards from the local surf school is a bit of a giveaway . It is however a laid-back and quiet place some good restaurant and lodging nearby it is quiet a nice place to get away from the throng of hipsters nearby . It does have old Bali charm . I wanted to include photos of the of the morning crowds . But maybe you could make up your own mind .

Black sand, still a semi-desert beach (Excluding on Sundays) just after Tanah lot.
Black rocks covered by brilliant spots of green and, if you catch it in the right days, some small waterfalls falling on the side.
Amazing
