In love with this lake very much ... It is really naturally beautiful all the time even during the foggy time. Enjoying the scenery, the landscape, it's vegetation, it's calm and it's luxurious tranquility always creates a pure peaceful on your body, mind, and soul. My sincere gratitude to Nature, to the mother earth for this wonderful scenery they serve sincerely to us all. It is God's Secret Yard. The Temple in the middle of the Lake is truly a masterpiece. The green forest, the fresh air, chirping birds are just amazing. Walking through the green forest until the southeast corner, you will see another beautiful sacred temple in the corner. Bring your camera, assure your gadget fully charged, wear your walking or trekking shoes, discover the beauty with the local park ranger to support them. The most important, support nature, say thanks before you step forward, bring home your own trash, help the environment clean by picking up the garbage you found during your trip and bring it home. #Staysafe, #Stayhealthy Save it now on your Travel bucket and Travel later after this outbreak ends. Bali is really looking forward to your support again ...…

Had a nice walk down to the lake (about 90 minutes) and then a short canoe ride back to where our driver was waiting. It would have been nicer to take a longer ride around the lake but we just went straight. There were some cool looking temples that we missed. All in all it was worth it though. Maybe should have suggested we take a round about route back but didn’t know we were going straight back until half way there.…

My wife and I visited Tambalingan Lake with the hope of doing some hiking around the area. I've always enjoyed this type of activity as its free, allows you to view nature and helps neutralise the calorie rich drinking that I was doing in Bali. Our lonely planet suggested the presence of a 4km hike along the southern edge of Danau Buyan from the car park, over the saddle to Danau Tamblingan and on to Asan Munduck. I asked my driver to take us to Asan Munduck but I think he ended up taking us just above that to the parking lot where the organisation 'Organisasi Pramuwisata Bangkok Bersama' on the western edge of Tamblingan lake, just above Asan Munduck. He informed us that it was illegal to hike without a guide. I initially assumed this was misinformation fuelled by his desire to get a commission but after finding very clear signs supporting this over the walking tracks we ended up having to hire a guide. There are quite a few walks you can do around Lake Tamblingan and even up Gunung Lesong. The pricing varies from 300K to 1 million for a guide. We did the most popular trek which takes about 2 hours and goes around the south-eastern edge of the lake, eventually culminating a canoe boat ride back across the lake to the starting point. I guess being from Australia I was a bit cynical about the need for the guide and quite frankly a bit annoyed I had to pay the fee which to me seemed like a way of getting money from tourists. However, after doing it I can say that the guide was actually needed. Unlike in Australia the 'trails' are all unmarked and there is a series of paths leading in all directions so you actually need someone to take you through so you don't get lost. The rainforest we saw was beautiful and some quite ancient. Overall it was a decent and enjoyable experience but the forced payment did annoy me a little bit as I am not used to this when it comes to bushwalking. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water if you plan to do this.…

Putu is an excellent quide. He accompanied us to Lake Tamblingan and showed us around through the jungle. Telling us a lot about the surrounding and the jungle and what lives in it. He took us to the temple Dalem Tanblingan where a ceremony was held at that time. We were gratefull that were allowed to see that happen. To canoe fare to the opposite of the lake was fun. We finished with a good lunch and the ride back to Munduk. Hans and Olga The Netherlands…
