Every room was packed with Victorian furniture and stuff. Tubs were lined with copper. This house has had many uses over the years. Glad it is a museum now. Wish we lived closer so we could see it at Christmas.

Some interesting local history in this home. The architecture and decor has European influence which includes (at the time) a scandalous mural above the master bed and some interesting faces embedded in the wood in the upstairs front room. All the furniture is not original...More

A beautiful 1880's mansion in Independence, Mo. Enjoyed seeing this slice of history and the stories behind the original owners/builder. For the history buff it's a wonderful sight to see and learn about. Hard to believe a mansion of that era still exists today.

The tour allows you to see the entire first and second floors. For those that think they are missing out on a great deal of the house, you are not. The basement is nothing to see and the third floor is not open to the...More

Guests visiting the Vaile mansion have access to the 1st and 2nd floor. Due to fire code restrictions the third floor and up are off limits, because there is only one way up and one way down. Very unsafe if there was ever... More
