The Truman Library offers a normal experience you might expect from a self-guided tour of a small museum in a relatively small town... similar to expectations that a sundae comes with whipped cream and a cherry on top. The library properly shares historical information that gives you a glimpse of the business, personal and professional lives of Harry and Bess... More

Huge amounts of well displayed information about Truman including his early years, Bess and Margaret, WWI; and then finally politics, senate years, president, WWII, bomb (well balance view, we felt), 2nd term; finally his post-presidential years. We could not get through everything in a single 4-hr visit. Highest recommendation for history buffs and those wanting to know more about these... More

Very well done with a good sense of historical perspective as it related to Truman's life. Multiple good, informative short films with audience participation (voting). Spent 2.5 hours here and didn't think I would.

This was an awesome visit to one of our Presidents library. Beautiful place to visit. He was I think the most popular President.

This was my first visit to a Presidential library, and I was very impressed by the expansive displays that were very informative. I really learned a lot about World War II, as well as President Truman's experiences leading us in a peacetime economy. There were fascinating artifacts, and several video rooms that had looping video of historic footage. The courtyard... More

One of the finest presidential libraries in the country. The museum has plenty of information and is designed in a way that maintains flow. One of Independence's treasures.

We were traveling for the holidays and decided to stop to check out the Truman library and museum. This museum is very well done and has so much information about not only his presidency but the U.S. climate after he left office. Very interesting!

There was a real focus on the end of WWI, the decision to use the Atom Bomb and the creation of the United Nations. Truman's presidency was really the beginning of the modern era, and his policies affected world history for generations. There are great exhibits on the Domino Theory, the formation of Isreal, the Cold War, the Berlin Airlift,... More

This is a great place if you are interested in President Truman's history. If you have children they will enjoy the activities that the library provides. I included additional information in my review of the Truman natl monument and home. All locations are worth visiting.
