A great antidote to the tourist markets that tend to be included on tours. When we stopped to visit we were the only foreigners in the market. It's not particularly pretty, in fact it's downright grubby in places but it is the real thing - food produced by locals for locals. It's worth going with a guide as very few of the stallholders speak English although all were very happy to talk about their produce without any pressure or expectation of a sale.
One word of warning - be careful of the dogs. Our guide was bitten and had to drop by a local clinic for shots.

As I am a sucker for markets, I loved this place! There were so many stands and I don't think there's anything you couldn't get from there. Great choice of local sweets and street food as well as fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish etc. etc.
You'll definitely get a feeling of the local life - especially if you visit early in the morning! :)
Prices are very low since not many tourists stop there.

One of the employees took us around the market , its traditional selling fruit , vegetables , fish & meat along with basic items . We found a goldsmith using heated clay pieces to be able to solder and make jewellery, an eye opener. Cooked food is available. A must see if you are in the area

This is a local market with stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and spices. Nice to walk around and mingle with the locals. They also have an interesting array of cooked food and desserts.
