Trek to Tikona fort was an outstanding experience, so far this is the best and cleanest/least polluted trek I have come across in Maharashtra. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the peak from where one can enjoy exhilarating and panoramic views of Pawna lake and the surrounding region. So guys, enjoy this trek and please please don't litter.
There aren't too many concession stands for food/water, so carry your own water.

Located near Kamshet, Tikona Fort is one of the easiest treks in Maharashtra. The route is very safe and wide. A great hike for beginners. Enjoy a breathtaking view of Pawna lake from the summit.

Tikona fort is a hill fort located near Kamshet [Maval region] in Maharashtra. Height from sea level is 3500 feet. Its twin fort is called Tung. Me Jay and Sudhanshu decided to trek this in the month of October ideal conditions cool weather and less tiring. Route:- First you would have to head towards Lonavala and from Lonavala to Kamshet. Then from Kamshet the locals can guide you for the route to Gavhande Village which is also called as Tikona Peth. This is the base village for Tikona. From this point the actual trek begins. We started early morning and reached Tikona fort in 3 hrs as we have to take breaks in between, While reaching Fort it was amazing place with good scenic view of surrounding forts in the lonavlaa regionThe major attraction atop forts are Big Entrance Door,Trimbakeshwar temple,Caves,Lake surrounding the fort,View of Lohgad and Tung. Carry plenty of Water though Above at forts there are few water tanks.

Tikona fort was small but lovely fort located near Pawna dam. You can climb this fort within and hour and for non trekker might be 1.30 hr to reach at the top. It is easy to climb. To reach at Bale killa, you need to climb stairs which are very steep.
The steps are split into 2 sections. A rope with bolts is fixed which gives you support while climbing. Climbing on steep steps can make you a tired. Each step is much bigger than a regular step. Take proper care during rainy season as rain water usually flows from these steps.
There are many places to see on fort. Entrance gate (Vetal darwaja), temple of 'Trimbakeshwar Mahadev', Water tanks, Caves constructed during Satvahan, stone grinder, Steep stairs which takes you at the Bale-Killa, bastion and Bale-Killa. The whole fort can be seen in an hour's time.
From top of the fort, you can have a view of adjacent fort Tung, pawna dam Lohagad and Visapur
There is only one food stall on fort which serves you very basic food like bhaji, vada pav etc.
At the base village (Tikona peth), you can order a lunch in advance.
This fort visit can be seen in half day and while return journey you can visit Hadshi temple.

This fort is one of the 4 forts standing around the Pawana Lake. The other 3 being Lohagad , Visapur and Tung. I have trekked Vispaur and Lohagad as well and found that Tikona is the easiest to trek. We went there in a group of 6 friends (all males). We got down at Kamshet Railwat station and got an autorickshaw which dropped us till the fort base. From there its a gradual and easy trek. It takes hardly an hour 2 reach the top. The surroundings are great. It gives an amazing view of the surroundins. You can see the pawana lake and the other 3 forts Lohagad , Visapur and Tung. U can touch the clouds and the mist on a monsoon day.Overall a very good option for new trekkers.

Tikona fort is an easy trek location near kamshet district and is accurately located in google maps. It has an elevation of 3500 feet above sea level. Tikona peth is the base village of the fort. There are refreshments like corn, mineral water and nimbu pani available through out the trek. Base village has places for quick meals. Vehicle parking is available at fort base for free. The route between kamshet and tikona peth is as Kamshet-pawananagar-Tikona peth
How to get there:
1.Reaching kamshet: If travelling by train then one must alight at kamshet railway station by getting to lonavala and then boarding local train to kamshet or directly by a passenger.
2. Finding a taxi or bus: The locals can guide you to the place where you can rent taxi. A whole taxi (max 12 people)can be rented which will drop you by fort base(not to mix this up w/ base village) but costs anywhere between 600-1000.
Sharing taxi's till pawananagar are available for 20₹ per seat, but are extremely uncomfortable. Further pawananagar no sharing taxis are available, you need to rent one for 300₹.
MSRTC bus frequency is 1 hr. Rent is 20 till pawananagar and less than 40 for tikona peth.
REMEMBER THERE IS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT AVAILABLE FROM TIKONA PETH BACK TO KAMSHET EXCEPT MSRTC BUSES (frequency unknown).
if travelling by any vehicle then use location on google maps, it's accurate.
Trek difficulty:
Tikona being an easy trek location is perfect for beginners. People may face problem when climbing the end part which are very steep steps but cable is provided for support.
Tips:
1. When returning back you must reach pawananagar to get a bus as taxis are closed after 4.
2. Carry plenty of water.
3. Have some carbs before trek.
4. The view from top is marvellous with lush green mountains and mesmerising clouds.

Trikona became Tikona is what I believe..
Trikona means three angles. The mountain in which this fort is situated is in the form of Triangle.
Rich place of fauna and a sight to admire about the people who built and lived here

There are lot of snack options en route the fort. Bhajias and Sweet corn were available in abundance. We had wonderful lunch at Tikona Picnic which is close by. There would be few more options available in nearby viallges.

Is it easy for a beginner ?
I did mahuli trek half way only then stopped !
Will i be able to complete this ?
Is it a easy one or how difficult it is ?
Written 8 August 2018
Let us first look at the statistics. Tikona trek reaches the height at 3600 feet and i can see Mahuli trek reaching the height at 2815 feet (courtesy Google). Which is approx 28% more.
But please do not worry. Being a heart patient myself and at the age of 49 years and 5 months if i could do it, I believe You can as well. I was a beginner too.
There are only two steep climbs of approximately 50 meters each which are steps made of irregular sized stones. One can take adequate rest of 10/15 minutes after each of them and carry on. Normal time taken by healthy people is 3.00 hours to and back from the fort. We had a group of ten and took our own sweet time to cover this in 4.00 hours. Coupe of suggestions though, please go with a group who can motivate You. Have a good breakfast and carry adequate water. Be ready to be blown away by the breathtaking views all along and from the top of the fort. All the Very Best!!!
