The one day trip was quite exciting. The wax museum was worth a visit but couldn't understand why the statues were not under one roof. The status were kept in two different places. The most talked about Karla caves may belong to another era but it is sad to see that there is very little in terms of restoration or... More

Being interested in Indian History we visited the Karla Caves on one of our trips to Lonavala. Be prepared for about a 400 steps climb. The pathway is full of vendors and quite busy. When you finally reach the top you realise that just outside the main Chaitra of these ancient Buddhist caves is a temple dedicated to Goddess Ekveera... More

Karla caves are very beautiful caves to visit. You will have to climb around 150 high steps to reach caves. But it is worth visiting. There is also a temple there. Entry was Rs.25/- per head. Parking Rs.50/-. There is also road entry which is Rs.30/-. You will get food and water in the stalls which are along the steps.

If you want to go to this place from Pune.. Take any train going towards lonavala from Shivajinagar Railway station. It will take 40-45 mins (at Max) from Shivajinagar to Malavli Railway Station. Once you reach Malavli, you will get Autos or local taxis to reach Karla Caves. If you are in a group I would suggest to walk upto... More

We visited Karla Caves for a quick view. Caution - one needs to walk up the stairs. Though there are shades on the stairs throughout the way, however during the day it can be hot to walk up. The whole way has lots of shops/kiosks both side of the road and you can walk up by stopping in the way... More

The cave is situated uphill and requires a good amount of energy and strength. It's good for those who are seeing a cave for the first time. If you have already seen ajanta and other caves then is not worth the walk. It has a small temple situated beside it.

There is a long prayer hall with nice carvings inside –which includes that of men , women, animals such as lions and elephants. To reach this location you have to go... More
