Grown traditionally and harvested by hand, our spices are processed with high standards in quality and hygiene and are certified organic by Ecocert. Presentation, tasting and free guided tour in English, French, and Khmer. You will understand why Kampot Pepper has been elected #1 best pepper in the world. La Plantation has also a social dimension by improving the living conditions of many people in this rural area and by taking care of the primary school. Needed Some Black Salt Pepper
I live most of the year in Cambodia and like to visit Kampot. My family often ask me to go to La Plantation to buy them the Black Salt Pepper. I enjoy riding my motorcycle out to La Plantation and find the service awesome and the atmosphere is fun. I’ll keep coming back and highly recommend this place.
Thank you for your visit and this review ! We will welcome you and your family in the best way everytime you'll decide to visit us. See you soon !

    Interesting experience
It was interesting to see the farm, and I enjoyed the drive over in Tuk Tuk. Perhaps due to the time of year, the farm was a bit touristy and crowded. Our group was too large to really be able to enjoy the tasting they have after the tour. I did find a couple of pepper mixes I liked though.
Thank you for visiting us and for your feedback !

Unforgettable development tourism spice farm experience!
Of all the places I’ve visited in Cambodia, this is probably where I learned the most and really found inspiration in how they run their development venture. I refer to this latter point because this is a place where they go out of their way to treat their workers with respect, dignity, and with a family like sensibility. Though they don’t overemphasize it, their workers are housed in decent living quarters on-site at no cost. While I’d been to other spice farms around the world, the way this place is structured is quite different. Our guide, Leap (“Lee-epp”) took the time to describe in detail how and why each step of the process works. During the tasting session, she gave incredibly detailed descriptions of how each spice mix and sauce can be paired with variety of dishes. By that point, everyone must’ve been incredibly hungry because her she was quite vivid. But no worry, the restaurant didn’t disappoint. With a simple menu of traditional Khmer specialties, they really know how to season food in a way that you won’t find at Kampot restaurants. Even though I actually landed up buying quite a few spices, if the packaging was more durable I would have purchased even more since they have numerous unique products that you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Little vacuum packed bags that can’t be closed back up doesn’t really make sense for delicate spices. Some simple glass jars with solid tops would make a world of difference! My only regret was taking a tuktuk there. Because the road is being paved, there was a huge dust bowl throughout. Though the driver gave me a mask, I could feel the grit on my hair and face by the end of the trip. Probably would’ve been better to simply rent a car for the day, however the kind lady at the shop in town reassured me that I tuktuk would be fine.
Thank you so much for this lovely review. We see that you appreciated your experience here. We will continue in the way.

We went there with wife and almost 2 year old daughter. We had a tour inside the plantation in the heat almost under the hot sun (they did some kind of shading at each place you stop during the tour)).
The guide gave us too much info that i dont know if anybody remembers now or needed to know... next we did pepper tasting and then left. others bought some kind of pepper and had a cooking class. i found it a bit boring.

Thanks for your review, even if we are a little bit surprised with the word boring. We propose a lot of different activities, the visit of the pepper farm to learn about the Kampot pepper, for sure, the tasting of all peppers and spices to try, smell, taste different savors, some buffalo tour to enjoy a chilling ride through the countryside. We can lead you to the kids house to see all what we do here for children and, if you’re lucky, meet children over here. The pepper has a very long history in this region, it’s part of the Khmer culture. We believe that is important for visitors to know why you can grow pepper here, why Kampot pepper is so famous in the world, how do we harvest it and what we do regarding the social aspect. Visit and tasting are free of charge, we don’t make you do the visit if you’re not interested. If you want to avoid the heat, we organise guided tour between 9h and 16h30. Don’t hesitate to come in the morning or later in the afternoon, we also provide hats if needed. Regards.

The free tour and the tasting were really good but be very careful when you buy anything at the shop. The cashier received some money from the customer in front of me and was looking carefully at the 20USD note. I didn't understand immediately why. When I paid my things I got change from him and he gave me exactly that note. It was pretty old and now nobody except that note over here.
What a bad behave!

Dear Mike_Lehmann, thanks for your visit. We are a bit surprised about your comment. The cashier has a lot of responsibilities and it’s on his duties to check if a note is real or not. He cashed the note, so we can definitely say that it was a real one. He didn’t know at this moment that you will need a change of 20$, he gave you this note, not on purpose. If you wanted to change a note, you could always say to the cashier that you wanted another note. It’s possible. About the behave, it’s very common here to look very well the money, dollars note are not made in Cambodia and if they are cheated, they can’t do nothing. As travelers, we can change our dollars in every airport, bank or big city, it’s quite easy for us. Regards.

This tour was great but the road is 😱 in a tuk tuk! We paid $20 USD return for a family of 5 and we were happy with that. The tasting session at the end of the tour was excellent. Product purchasing was good and fair prices. Would love to get some recipes to motivate me to use my purchases

Dear louloubme, The road is a local public way to come to La Plantation after passing the N33. We're doing our best to fixe it ourself but it stays bumpy and dirty as a lot of small road in the country. Getting a tuk tuk or a motorbike are optional. You can also chose our pick up service to come and enjoy our activities if you prefer so. We're delighted to know you enjoyed your time with us. For your information a recipes book made by our owners is available in the main house for free. That gives you some nice ideas on how to cook and use our spices when you'll back home! Thank you and happy new year 2020!

We held off visiting La Plantation during a previous trip to Kampot, preferring to experience a smaller, more intimate pepper farm. However - perhaps it was the lack of busses and big groups - but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The grounds are immaculate, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and the facilities are top notch. We enjoyed delicious food, beautiful views, and learned a great deal about crop farming in Cambodia and local traditions. Well worth the trip out of town.

We also have some activities in La Plantation such as buffalo tour or cooking class that you can enjoy with your family. We hope to see you again. All the best.

Mainly wanted to experience buffalo tour although found pepper tour interesting too. The tour left the main office at 8:45 and we were collected from La Plantation at 3pm. The package included lunch also but was far too long, all three activities (including transport) could easily of been reduced to 4 hours instead of 6. Were rushed from the buffalo tour to the pepper tour only then to sit and wait for an hour before having lunch and then wait for another hour following. Good cause and staff accommodating but all in all unless you have a keen interest in pepper making and sitting around for hours or walking through fields in the heat then wouldn’t recommend.

Thank you Aimee L for your review. We try to plan our package to enjoy the visit of the pepper farm, tasting, lunch in the restaurants and buffalo tour without waiting too long or rushing. It's possible to do only one or two activities, you just have to come to La Plantation but it won't be the same price. Best regards.

Getting to La Plantation is half of this remarkable experience. Whether it be by tour van, tuk tuk or motorbike, you'll travel rough dirt roads through beautiful countryside past villages, farms and lakes to get there. A great opportunity to get off the main roads to see a different side of Cambodia.

La Plantation is a marvelous place with a great educational tour of their pepper growing operations. You'll also learn about the history of pepper farms in the region, the founding of La Plantation and the organization's commitment to giving back to the local community. A very impressive story!

At the close of the tour, you'll have the opportunity to taste test many of the peppers grown on the farm. All of their products can be purchased on site. And if you want a bite to eat before hitting the road back to town, there's an onsite restaurant.

Definitely recommend including La Plantation in your visit to Kampot.

Thank you for your kind recommendation EricRHaas, we are so happy to read that you enjoyed the guided tour, it's a good way to learn about the pepper, the long story of this spice in the region and for the local, and a good way for us to share with you about our social project. The tasting of pepper is the opportunity to try, smell, taste all the different peppers and to know how to use it for your next dishes. Thanks for your support, all the best for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed a very informative tour of the pepper farm, which is set in lovely grounds with beautiful views across to the lake. The tour was followed by an extensive tasting of about 10-12 different peppers and we really felt we learnt a lot this morning. The only thing I would have liked to understand better was how the company is supporting the community and education; this wasn’t mentioned but I have since read that they do. Its fantastic that they don’t charge for such an excellent tour. Expect very bumpy roads to get there!

Dear KTP310, Thanks for your visit. We are sorry that we didn't have a chance to meet and explain you our project to support the school and communities. We had a booth at the welcome building with a video and information and a person is dedicated to our association Les Ecoles de La Plantation. It should have been easy for you to request some information on-site. You still can get more information and support our kids through our association. We opted to take a full tour of the plantation. It is very easy to arrange your visit at their shop in town! The Water Buffalo ride into the secret lake was a great experience, as was the tour and tasting of the farm. Definitely don’t miss out on having lunch here! It was one of our best meals in Cambodia.

Glad to hear that you had such a great day with us! The farm visit and the tasting are very interesting to know a little bit more about Kampot Pepper, as the restaurant where you can have Khmer or French food with this surprising spice. The buffalo tour is definitely the best way to chill in the countryside of La Plantation. Thanks for your support.

Interesting place to visit. Nice farm and cafe nice location. Staff super friendly. The pepper shop sold many spices and herbs as well as pepper and all presented professionally.

Worth a visit if you have time. My advice is take a car or taxi as the road there is so bad, if you go by tuk tuk it would be horror ride.

Good morning, thank you very much for your visit at La Plantation. We are happy that you had a great time with us. Indeed, the car or taxi rides are more confortable than tuk tuk or moto bike rides. If you plan to visit us again, it is with pleasure that we could organize a limousine transfer for you. It is normal that the road is not perfect as it is a Cambodian countryside road. Also, La Plantation is doing as much as possible to help the development of our region. We wish you all the best from our team.

Acres of lush agro farm replete with 2 beautiful restaurants, Pepper Shop and free guided tour which takes you arounf the plantation ending with a very academic pepper tasting class. Can go by TukTuk however given the Searing heat ( we visitied in Jan) would strongly recommend hiring an air conditioned car instead. Quite a distance out of Kampot, at least an hour and more.

Dear RinitaS6 Thanks for the visit and your nice review about your day at La Plantation. We offer a AC mini van transportation service included in our discovery packages for people who prefer have a confortable journey. But driving a motorbike or hiring a tuk-tuk is also a local enjoyable experience in the country side.
