Particularly large numbers of elephant herds congregate here, as do many wildebeest and zebra. There are also substantial populations of impala, giraffe, eland and buffalo. Thompson's gazelle, Coke's hartebeest, bohor reedbuck and both greater and lesser kudu are found here. The localized and unusual gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx also occur here, though in our experience they are seen exceedingly rarely.... More

What an amazing place! Hundreds of elephants, zebras, monkeys, dik diks, gazelles, mongoose, bird life and some rare lions, leopard tortoises and bird life. We also went Hot Air ballooning over the park early one morning which was breath taking to see it all from the air.

If you are short of time and don't want to travel further out to the Serengeti, than this beautiful park should meet your needs for a safari fix. This was day one of our 5 day Safari in Tanzania and what an introduction it was. The benefit of travelling in the dry season is that the animals are concentrated around... More

I sometimes daydream about the days we spent in Tarangire, the mornings waking up to birdsong, the ancient baobab trees, the elephants and lions, the sound of a leopard walking by in the nighttime. If I had to pick one place in Tanzania or Kenya to visit again, I would choose Tarangire. It feels unspoiled. I saw that someone complained... More

On the way to Serengeti and Ngorongoro it is worth to stop at Tarangire on the exceptional amount of elephants to be seen there. Unfortunately, and at least in February, the park is infested by Tse Tse flies. I cannot count the number of times we have been beaten over the two days we spent there.

It is a mystery to me that this Park is so much less visited than the Serengeti. Granted, it is harder to see some animals here. But if you want to see Elephants, this is the perfect place. The density of elephants here is greater than any other Tanzanian park including the Serengeti. We were afforded many long looks and... More

Visitors bound for the Sarengeti and the Masai Mara may miss the Tarangire Park, which occupies almost four thousand square kilometres in the Rift Valley, south east of Lake Manyara. It really is a hidden treasure of African National Parks.Uncrowded and unspoilt, it possesses a classic savannah landscape of acacia trees and the baobab tree; a weird, ungainly and hugely... More
