Our Visit to Semuliki National Was breathtaking because we had chance to see the male and female Hotsprings which have existed for millions years and keep boiling over 100 degrees

This could be the crown jewel of Uganda. That is if the paths through the jungle would get minimal maintenance. Yes, I know, this is deep and dense jungle, but still... it's not fun battling endless knee-deep stretches of boot-eating mud or wading trough jungle rivers that get you wet until your butt.
You have to rent boots (5000Sh) and if you're lucky they don't have any holes. Otherwise you'll end up walking with wet and muddy feet all day long.
There's plenty of wood, plenty of workers (doing what ?) - my goodness, build some bridges over the rivers and muddy stretches.
Then this place would be an awesome place for nature and birdlovers !

This humble park offers two distinct attractions - the two springs and their swampy surroundings and unique birds. We enjoyed a three hour walk through the forest, seeing unique birds as well as the african pygmy squirrel and an elephant shrew while we learned a lot about different plants and trees along the way. Unfortunately the longest hikes weren't possible due to recent rains but we still enjoyed the shorter hikes. The hot springs are very different for Uganda and thus enjoyable but if you've seen them in other places you may not walk away wowed. You'll enjoy it so long as you know what you're coming for!

The place is a bit isolated, although easily reached from Portal with public transport. The hot springs are small but I found the place really beautiful. Spent most of my time birdwatching in the forest with an extremely knowledgeable guide (Alex) to look for the Semuliki specials. The UWA camp was very pleasant, set on the border of the forest, with good food and clean en-suite bandas.

Another wonderful visit to this amazing geographical formation with entertaining folklore. I love it.
One tip! Buy local eggs (free range) from the town. Add anything you can boil or steam to eat. Think about this for a moment! There’s absolutely lots and lots. Don’t forget the plates, condiments and drinks.

Went there 5 times during 2019. You need a guide, and they are such an asset. You can just walk to the 2 hot springs and cook food and return or be a bit more adventurous. The hot springs are great to see hot water bubbling up and steam rising from the pools. Often too hot when temperature over 30'C.
If you're more interested in trees, insects, butterlies, birds or monkeys then it is heading off for several hours into the jungle with a guide. It's great, that is why I went back so often. If you're interested in particular animals etc try and ring a few days before arrival to get a guide who is better in what you want to see. I commonly saw numerous trees, 12 types of butterly, 3 types on monkey, 30+ types of tree and 40+ types of birds.
Weather often very hot. Several trips I thought I needed beach wear for the heat, but a burka and wellies for the insects! A compromise was trainers with long trousers tucked into my socks (though wellies would have been better), sun hat, sun screen, water, binocular/camera were well used.
A great atmosphere walking through a big forest, you could easily imagine yourself being an intrepid explorer.
The last 3 months part of the jungle was flooded, which was bad to the trees and animals.
