We wanted to visit one the canyons in the area and decided to go to Waterhole instead Antelope, which is the most famous. The reason is that Antelope is so crowded.
The canyon itself is espectacular. I never seen something similar. We went last September 18th in the morning. The group were 8 people and I did not see more groups in the canyon during that time.
It was so easy to take lots of pictures with no other people in. A part of that, Brian, our guide, took us a lot of pictures as well (his a very good photographer).
Scheduled time for visit is 1,5h but we were not in a hurry fot the visit, Brian is not looking at the clook all the time. Finally we took nearly 2 hours, which is more than enough to see the canyon and take all the pictures you want.
Thanks a lot to Brian for his patience, pictures and explanations and thanks algo to rest of the team for this excellent experience.

I wanted to try something different than Antelope, and was not disappointed. After a little confusion on the types of tours (photography tours are for professionals only), we had a great time. Brad, our tour guide was very helpful. These are the best photos of the vacation by far. It is a little expensive

We had a great visit to this very interesting slot canyon. Much quieter and less busy than Antelope Canyon. Guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Canyon is quite narrow in some places, a heavyset lady had trouble getting through in several narrow spots. Nice secure ladders to climb down in a number of places. Very pretty, beautiful sandstone walls. Vertical walls not quite a narrow as some other canyons, pretty easy walk that took about 90 minutes. Very photogenic location. Highly recommended

Our trip to Lower Antelope was canceled due to high winds. I wasn't sure if Waterhole Canyon would be open, but it was. It was less expensive, longer, and just as interesting. Our guide was fantastic and our group was very small. We were not rushed through the canyon. I was able to take tons of pictures without anyone being in the way or feeling rushed. It could not have been a better experience.

It’s almost April 2022. Literally nobody is getting sick with Covid anymore & we were instructed repeatedly that we needed to keep our masks on at all times. Even during pictures. In the middle of the desert. Outside. The guide watched us like a hawk😆. I felt like I was on a prison yard. Beautiful place. Idiot leadership of the whole tribe but much love & respect for the members.

We were recommended to do this hike by our tour guide for Antelope Canyon. This is a beautiful hike, about 15 mins outside of Page that requires a permit. You park on the side of the road just before the bridge and make sure to enter on the left not the right, the left side (coming from Page) is way easier than the right. It's a little steep to get down at the beginning but once you are on the Canyon floor which doesn't take too long it is stunning. You can go as far as the electrical pylons which takes about an hour then you have to stop. You don't have to return the same way, you will see a path up the rocks that leads you back to the car along the top of the canyon. You need to get a permit which is not straightforward during off season. Easiest way is to drive to Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park office which is about 10-15 mins drive from Courtyard Marriott in Page. It is a white trailer situated behind the Hospital. Permit fee is $12 per person and so worth it. Hours are 8am-5pm. During Peak season permits for this canyon can be obtained in Page.

Hands down this was our best slot canyon exoerience! We joined the masses doing Upper and Lower Antelopes where you march along at their pace and try to get pictures without people in them. Then, we heard about Waterholes and decided to try it. OMG, it's the only one to do. With a small group, you walk at a leisurely pace, stopping to admire the scenes, which are just as good as the Antelopes, taking pictures as you go. We had a wonderful guide who pointed out beautiful sights and shared his Native American culture. It was a truly enjoyable day!

Last week we booked tours for both Antelope Canyon and Waterhole, back to back. Antelope gets all the press and rightly so. It's beautiful. That said, the crowds that swarm the place take away from the experience. It's the Disneyland of Page. On the other hand Waterhole Canyon is awesome too, net of the crowds for now. We got the sense that Jason, our guide, is part of the canyon,..the stories and the history he shares are awesome. If I could only choose one trip I would recommend Waterhole.

I found this canyon from a blog and called in on my way into Page.
The owners and guides were there and suggested waiting a couple of hours for the temperature to drop, it was about 95f and down below, over the ton.
I said I’d come back at 8am next morning and then went 3 miles down the road and took in a Horseshoe Bend, another must do.
Went back next day and there were just two of us for the tour, priced at $48 each.
I knew this was the going rate rate for a 30 minute tour of Lower Antelope Canyon, so thought its market price.
A short van trip to the head of the canyon and off we set.
This is simply, a most beautiful hike through the Waterhole Canyon with a guide who cares passionately about preserving what nature has given us, just listen for 5 minutes and you will be under the spell of the place.
In total it’s about 2.5 miles in length and takes at least 90 minutes, you are guided the whole way and you can stop to take as many photos as you want, you are not rushed here.
Access into lower reaches is via ladders varying from 3 to 13ft, but they are easy to descend.
I can not recommend this highly enough, if you want to avoid the crowds of Lower & Upper Antelope, Come here, you will not be disappointed.

My husband, brother and I took this tour because the Antelope Canyon tour was sold out. Lucky us! The family that runs the tours are warm and friendly and very accommodating. Our guide was knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in the area and taught us a lot about the geology. We drove about 5 miles out of town to their parking area, checked in and were shuttled to the end of the canyon. We walked through 2 canyons at a very leisurely pace. There were a few ladders and a couple rocks we had to scramble over. We had a group of 8 and never saw any other groups. The Canyon was amazingly beautiful and we were able to get stunning photos. We’re 70 years old and had no problems traversing the canyons. Choose Waterholes Canyon over Antelope if you’re reasonably fit.

Hello Traveler. Got a bad knee. Which would be best, Waterhole or Upper Antelope? " less stairs"?

Getting down in the canyon is pretty steep and I definitely wouldn’t go past the 1st ladder.
