Seems silly to do a review on this bridge which was meant to pay for itself 100x over since construction and probably has in fact done so with toll money being redirected to everything else in NYC except bridge maintenance. Always under maintenance ever since I can remember it which translates into fewer lanes open, closed lanes, redirected and redirected... More

A pleasant surprise during a visit to Staten Island. Magnificent bridge, worthy a visit if you are near it. Otherwise you can skip, specially if you have seen the other bridges (Brooklyn, etc).

Are you traveling from West Orange, NJ to Brooklyn? Take the Verrazano---it is way less stressful of a drive compared to the tunnel.

I have live in Bay Ridge this bridge is still amazing, my office faces it too. The Span is the longest, beating San Francisco by 2 feet! The NYC marathon start on this bridge. The bridge was an object of Tony Manero's fascination in Saturday Night Fever. You can sit on a bench and watch international commerce pass underneath the... More

Gazing upon this engineering feat, from the mid 20th century, you realize two things....how massive it is, and that the earth is round...it sounds ridiculous, but this bridges extends so far, that the towers seam to be out of "plumb" or , in normal speak, not straight. This is due to the curvature of the planet. It is noticed from... More

I happen to live a few blocks from the Bridge and can see it from my home windows. It's quite a site at any time of day or night. Suggest you take the Belt Parkway drive especially from lower Brooklyn or Manhattan; also beautiful site coming from Long Island. Try sunset.

It's always a great experience to pass through the bridge. And then the view of the bride from Belt Parkway is so beautiful, particularly on a clear sky day. Verrazano Bridge deserves lot more praise and recognition for what it is, as much as the Golden Gate.
