I did a lot of long walks in this neighborhood, enjoying the exceptional brownstone architecture. Some blocks are so perfect that they seem to be film sets. And this area is very close to downtown and well-served by the subway. Great place to explore or to live in.

We've returned to this great neighborhood, all the way down Court Street from downtown. A subway station, a cluster of businesses and eating places, a a bunch of blocks of lovely brownstones. I would love to live here.

I have family that lives in Cobble Hill. The neighborhood is quite gentrified and lots of building going on. Restaurants are everywhere and you can get a good cup of coffee everywhere you turn. New shopping center near Atlantic has a target, trader joes, a huge food court with gourmet foods. Very interesting places to explore!

Cobble Hill, as with many Brooklyn neighborhoods, has changed completely over the last 20 years or so. Some of the old Italian and Middle Eastern establishments and residents remain, but added to the mix are young families, a new Trader Joe's, and a big French influx. Patisseries and bistros share the streets with Thai restaurants and fancy chocolate shops. Tree lined residential streets intersect with two main shopping/dining avenues, Smith and Court Streets, making this area very desirable in which to live. Unfortunately, with all the perks come high housing and rentals as well as expensive up-scale retail shops.

Pretty neighbourhood with restaurants, coffee shops and clothing stores...the latter mainly along Court St. Head off Court to wander the tree lined residential streets. Lots of beautiful brownstones. For more brownstones and old carriage houses walk 30 minutes east to Clinton Hill and Fort Greene and the great restaurants along DeKalb Avenue and the park.

I used to live in this hood and I love coming back for a long, slow stroll. You can't make a wrong turn - just promenade around and enjoy the beautiful architecture. Sweet streets.

I grew up here. Although the area has changed it changed for the better. From a border line slum-working class area to a really great area . All the shops and stores ,brownstones and homes make this a really great area.

I've been visiting this neighborhood for the past 10 years, and never tire of it. Besides mod places like Trader Joe's, there still remain lots of ethnic stores and restaurants that have defined the character of Atlantic Avenue for decades. Zahadi's, in particular, carries a wide variety of gourmet and Middle Eastern food -- including their famous baklava that I remember my father ordering from there over 75 years ago.
Practically everything sells for half the price you have to pay a 15-minute subway ride away in Manhattan.
And -- you can even walk there from Manhattan across the historic Brooklyn Bridge in less than an hour.
This is a delightful part of NYC that mustn't be overlooked.

Cobble Hill is yet another of Brooklyn's many beautiful historic neighborhoods; as everywhere in New York, it's worth bringing a copy of the architectural guidebook AIA GUIDE TO NEW YORK CITY. Most of the tree-lined streets are encompassed within the Cobble Hill Historic District. The historic buildings are just too many to mention; see the book for details - every single street is interesting & worth strolling! On Henry Street, just south of Kane Street, is a sign saying that Winston Churchill's mother was born in the house in 1850; in fact, Jeanette "Jennie" Jerome was born in 1854 on Amity Street near Court Street! Between Court, Smith, Union & President Streets is Carroll Park, with a World War One memorial (1921).

We once rented an apartment near here, so we usually come back when we are in town as we know it is a pleasant neighborhood full of old fashioned brownstones and a lively commercial street, Court Street. Good bagels here as well as some other ethnic food. Subway runs through it.
