About
One of the last of New York City’s thriving boxing gyms, Gleason’s has been the training headquarters for such legends as Jake LaMotta, Muhammad Ali and Roberto Duran. In all, 136 World Champions have trained inside the gym’s hallowed walls. Currently five active title holders workout at Gleason’s as well as numerous contenders and dozens of Golden Gloves champions. And yes, women train at Gleason’s too. We host events like Amateur Fights, Art exhibition, and Boxing Camps. Visit our website to know all about these !

The best part of our trip to New York apart from the Taylor Serrano fight was crossing over Brooklyn Bridge and visiting Gleasons gym. The welcome and kindness we received there was fantastic and meeting the Coach and Boxing historian Hector Rocca was an amazing experience. The man is a mine of knowledge and an absolute Gentleman as well giving us his time and expertise on both the Saturday and Sunday. This was an absolute pleasure and highly appreciated and recommended.

I had to visit this place myself as i have my own Boxing gym in the UK. It is well equipprd and has that worn in feel that old style Boxing gyms have. It had a friendlier more welcoming feel also and it wasnt a daunting task walking through yhe front door. A must visit for people who train in and around Boxing circles.

Even if you are not interested in Boxing, but especially if you are interested in a real Boxing Gym you will not want to miss going to Gleason's Gym. These are the best, kindest and most extraordinary people ever - from Jeanette on the front desk who couldn't have been nicer to us - she made us feel like family - to the champion trainers Hector Roca and Leon "Cat" Taylor as well as Queen Ronica Jeffrey, Feather Weight World Champion who actually talked with us and took pics with us. We enjoyed our visit to the gym it was like being home. Everybody treated us so good we didn't want to leave. Also check out the history of this gym it is as extraordinary as the people you meet there. Gleason's Gym is so much more then a Boxing Gym they have all kinds of programs for families as well as persons with Parkinson's they are interested in people being the best they can be no matter where they are in their life.

Walked past Gleason's on our way to get hot chocolate down the street. Recognized the name from the 70s, didn't know it had moved to Brooklyn. Stopped in and were delighted with the friendly staff inviting us to look around. Great history and memorabilia. Loved it.
