A beautiful, huge and well-kept city park with areas where you can walk, run and do various sports. There is also a pond where all the dogs go to bathe. Inside there is also the Prospect Park Zoo which I absolutely recommend visiting for families with children!

We stayed just on the south end of the playground (also the soccer fields) and then walked it up to the Army memorial statues one day. It was so nice that I didn't care that the carousel was not open that a couple of other buildings were closed. I could see it had a lot of bicyclists, walkers, stroller parents, etc. What other park has a section where you can light up grills? In the evenings we saw extended families enjoying the sunlight until the last possible moment. The Brooklyn library is at the top and had a stunning exterior. It is safe and wonderful to experience this space in a very densely populated area. Well done! PS we also visited the zoo

Prospect Park is one of the best parks in the city! First off, it is huge and there are plenty of things to see and do there. There is the zoo, the botanical garden, the streams, ponds, and the lake, the lawns, the villa, the many walkways and bikeways, and the many statues and monuments. Overall, Prospect park has it all and it is a great place to do any sort of exercise as well as just to relax on a nice day. I highly recommend!

A very large park in the center of Brooklyn with all sorts of attractions including the great Botanical Gardens, a zoo, lots of playing fields, places to hike and picnic. All with the city all around it, and served by the subway. A true gem.

After picking up sandwiches from a deli, we were looking for somewhere outdoors to sit and eat. Luckily found a place to park along the southwest side of the park. The park is fenced with entrances every so often, so we walked to the nearest entrance and walked in. Not seeing any benches, and not prepared to sit on the ground, we started walking along a path where there were people and a set of concrete stairs. We found a cleanish spot to sit on rocks along the stairs. It was a pleasant setting on a dry fall day. But nothing super special. Definitely needs some TLC! Had we spent more time in the park, taking in the sites and the amenities, we might discover Prospect Park to be more than average.

Being from the south, where there is less city and more green, I haven’t been overly impressed with NYC parks. No offense, just nothing like the miles and miles of rolling green space I’m used to at home. From what I understand, most of these places are packed during normal times, but as we are still in the middle of a pandemic, it was not very crowded. I liked Prospect Park better than Central Park. More dirt trails and trails through thickets of trees. Pretty bodies of water full of turtles and ducks, which were fun to watch. While walking through the forest on trails, there were birds and chipmunks everywhere, like a Snow White fairytale. The bridges, tunnels, and the boathouse were beautiful, and made for great photo ops. The roadways were wide and open through the whole park. Central Park has more famous statues, but I think Prospect Park has more personality. It’s also more peaceful with more opportunities to interact with nature. There is also Grand Army Plaza at the main entrance, which is an impressive piece of architecture. I would choose Prospect over Central Park every time.

This is Brooklyn's major park. Although lacking the fame and popularity of its Manhattan counterpart, Prospect Park is still a lovely place to escape the urban bust. A stroll by the lake is a leisure pastime in weekends.

If you are in BK you must visit the park. In the summer there are so many activities; movie night, yoga in the park etc. If you have a dog, bring the dog in the morning between 6-9am or from 9pm - 1am. We love coming here for walks and laying out and having picnics in the summer!

Everyone says Central Park is the best in NY, and maybe it is. But as a native NYC expat (to San Diego) and frequent family visitor, this gem may be even better! It is huge and has much variety, inclluding a beuatful botanic garden, open fields, forested ares, water features, you name it. Best time to go is early April through early June, when the weather is beautiful and the trees are blossoming and fragrant and the flowers and plants are at their peak. You can jog, run, bike or simply take a relaxing stroll and soak in the peace and beauty. Yes a "tree grows in Brooklyn", or in this place, millions of them!

If you're ever looking for a place to hang out in Brooklyn with a bunch of friends for free one of the best spots to do it is prospect park. It has large fields many playgrounds and concerts depending which side of the park you're on.
It is a nyc park so beware of rats. Also, if you need to use the restroom on a busy weekend go before it's urgent because those lines can be so long!
Bring a blanket, some games, your pets? Have fun!

I was walking through the park and notice two memorials in the park. Did people die in this park?

Visiting NYC for New Year’s Eve with kiddos (9 & 11), how is the NYE celebration at Central Park? Thanks in advance.
Written 27 November 2018
NYC on New year's eve is a great treat. Understand that people show up many hours before midnight. Usually no pack backs so beware. If you think someone in your party needs a seat bring a tripod cane for an adult .
I suggest you go on to the NYC website for specifics regarding the celebration in Central Park.

Hi, Kenneth. What would you like to know about this attraction?
I was wondering about the condition of the road within the Park.
Is it smooth? User friendly for in-line skating?
Thank you for your reply,
Written 22 April 2018
I wouldn't recommend in line skating. At all.

What is parking like, or are there any parking garages close by?
Written 29 April 2017
We arrived by cab but didn't see parking near the zoo. We had a problem getting a cab afterwards as none passed that weren't pre-booked. In the end we had to walk a fair way to the library and ask for help from the librarian. who called a cab for us. The staff at the zoo wouldn't call a cab for us.... Hope you enjoy your visit

Si estás en downtown Manhattan no vale la pena ir hasta Prospect Park. Yo me quedaría en Central Park. Pero si estás por Brookling si vale la pena ir hasta Prospect!!
