- TangoNYGreat Neck, New York437 contributionsLocal Brooklyn favorite place. Lots to see and enjoy. Avoid large crowds on weekends.Local favorite for generations. Majestic trees and lots of beautifully manicured grounds. We went on Saturday in the mid April where Kwanzan Japanese cherrie trees are in bloom and losing pink petals, a wonderful time to be here! The only drawback was too many people, lots of crowds roam the premises. It becomes annoying. Kids admission is free, adults $18 per person whole day. Parking $25 right near the entrance to the park. Very convenient and beautiful. Just try to go on a weekday.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 April 2023
- UNR91117 contributionsStunning spring bloomsWe visited midweek early in the day during peak bloom of many of the spring flowers: tulips, azaleas, lilac, cherry blossom and tree peonies. Absolutely stunning! The tour is a great way to learn about the gardens unique history and features. The native section is very interesting with a number of medicinal plants noted. We spend a good 4 hours wandering the grounds and enjoyed it all! The cafe had a decent gluten free bowl but was expensive.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2023
- Justin WHasbrouck Heights, New Jersey3,633 contributionsI went to see the Cranford Rose Garden before all the blooms were goneJune is Rose Month at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the gardens were in full or past bloom at this point at the Cranford Rose Garden. All the flowers are blooming about two weeks in advance so some of the roses were past their prime. Because of the fact there are so many species, a lot of the roses were still in bloom as were other flowers and it was just an amazing site to see. The colors and the vibrance of the garden plus the wonderful smells made it an enjoyable visit. I was able to walk around the rest of the garden and some other things like in the Vegetable Gardens, the Rock Garden and the Children's Garden were coming into bloom so there were a lot of sites and colors to see in the rest of the gardens. The Japanese garden was in full summer mode and was very picturesque. The gardens are such a nice place to escape from the pressures of life and just relax and enjoy nature.Visited June 2023Travelled soloWritten 1 July 2023
- Kevin BFort Washington, Pennsylvania23 contributionsA magnificent horticultural tour awaits you at the Brooklyn botanical garden.Located just steps away from the New York subway entrance, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a wonderful urban oasis filled with lush gardens and collections of native and non-native species. It occupies a large footprint so allow yourself most of the day if you plan to visit everything. Fortunately there is a nice snack bar, as well as a very nice restaurant located on the grounds to refresh and replenish your self before continuing your tour. The conservatory contains a number of collections from different zones and also has very clean restrooms available. I especially enjoyed the woodland garden area, which has some magnificent examples of mature trees, native to the north eastern US. Bring your mosquito repellent, however as the area is quite shaded, and a home to these insects as well. At the conservatory, the bonsai garden, as well as the cactus collection And tropical greenhouse were extremely interesting. The exhibits are also well marked and labeled and offer an opportunity to learn quite a bit about the various species on display. There is an admission fee however, there is also a senior discount which is very generous. My wife and my adult daughter really enjoyed our time at the botanical garden and I can highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in plant life.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 August 2023

What a wonderful experience - even on a cloudy November day. They have the trees and shrubs set up to accent the fall colors.

We went to gardens in November. It was very magical, we had beautiful weather -it was sunny.
I liked the most conservatory in the middle of the park.

A wonderfully relaxing afternoon spent here, away from all the noise and pollution of nearby busy roads. The grounds were very well kept and I thought the value was quite good for the admission fee.

A wonderful and verdant oasis in the midst of Brooklyn!
As a couple who were married more than 30 years ago in an arboretum, public gardens, holds a special place in our hearts.
I high recommend this garden strongly for its wide variety of flora, bushes, and trees.

The trip to the Beautiful and absolutely Breathtaking Gardens was spoiled by a Discourteous Cashier Catherine by the exit of Flatbush Avenue and Empire Blvd who obviously tried to discriminate against me even though I was properly attired, thought I was trying to evade paying $18.00 when we lost my friends daughter and I was going back for her, but instead of displaying proper customer service and offer to help to find my friends daughter. She was speaking in a loud tone and being rude, even guests there who witnessed and saw me out said said “Sorry you had to go through that”.
That Cashier Catherine needs to be properly trained because I am a Guest Experience Manager and neither myself or my team would EVER speak to anyone in the manner in which she spoke to me… and I am a former member of the wildlife conservatory and a member of many outstanding organizations in and around NYC. That cashier Catherine reflects badly on the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and I hope she is spoken to about her behavior.
The experience totally spoiled the entire day/trip especially the fact that I was taking first time visitors to visit the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, so extremely disappointed because of your Cashier Catherine’s Behavior

A very pleasant botanical garden, tranquil and with many plants to photograph or admire. There is also a tropical and desert area (under glass) making it more interesting for the children.

Used to be one of my favorite places in Brooklyn until they tore out the lilac garden and created a giant paved pathway instead with only a few tiny lilac bushes that you can’t even get near as they are guarded off by ropes. I am heartbroken. There was a gorgeous, huge lilac garden. Now there is nothing a few tiny trees guarded off from visitors. Do they not even understand that lilacs are not admired for their looks but for their smell if you put ropes around them you make their beauty useless? How can people who seem to know and love flowers wreak such havoc on the beautiful lush lilac garden that used to be here? Whoever came up with the new design and tore down the lilac garden is no better than the oil companies wreaking havoc on our planet.

Hello, I just had a quick question about tickets/reservations:
I recently got a membership pass from a local museum to visit the garden, but I went onto the BBG website and it said that I needed to purchase tickets and make a reservation to visit the garden?
I'm just a tad confused on how I should proceed, and wondered if anyone else has been in this situation, and how you handled it.

I am a fellow member and when you order your time tickets, you have to order them as a member. When you set the order up, click down to membership and order them under that category.
If there are any problems, call the membership office. They are really nice.

If anyone has gone recently, kindly tell me if it makes a difference as to which entrance you use. I'm driving so it doesn't really matter which is closest to subway :) Thanks!

There is no difference in the three entrances to the Gardens. It just depends on what direction you are coming in. When you order the tickets online for what time you will be coming to the park, they will assign the time with the entrance you will be coming in on.

so all that would like to know 1. plenty of parking drive in and park for the Gardens and the Museum small parking fee will be paid when leaving, if your going nows the best to see all trees flower all in full bloom. weather is hot so take it easy if your walking out side, drink your water and have some fun I walked almost 5 miles to view all, places to eat are there

I was told women wearing nice dresses were sometimes refused entry due to a ritual dress code. True?

I have been a member of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens since 2002 and I have never heard of this before. The only time people dress up is for Special Events held at the Garden for Fundraisers and some people dress up for the Cherry Blossom Festival and that is a Kimono.

Ciao a tutti!
