We tried to visit this on Sept. 3rd. before Labor Day. It was closed for the season. We did walk the fence and looked in. There were two musk ox feeding in a trough near the fence. We could see small out buildings and fences.

Heard an interesting presentation from knowledgeable young caretaker. You can only see a few animals close up so it was somewhat disappointing. It's a research facility that has limited it scope to a few species.

Not sure if I was disrupting the research, but I could not resist these adorable beasts, so I stood outside the corrals and send Reiki energy for 20 minutes. They are so beautiful and so glad that research is ongoing.

They had muskox and reindeer available to see. It was interesting to see them, however, you can only see about 1-2 muskox at the top, where it's free, and you have to pay $10/person to go beyond the gate. It was a little disappointing though since most were put away, such as all but the 2 adult male muskox and... More

This was a great experience not far from downtown Fairbanks. Students offer a nice brief lecture on the universities research of these animals. They also bring them close for great photos.

We drove upto this place which is some distance from the town. There was no one at the entrance, and many others were also going back. There was no sign that it was closed that day.Better management needed.

We thoroughly enjoyed the presentation on the work done at this site with musk oxen and reindeer. The woman was very interesting and well-versed in both species and the work carried on by the station. I would highly recommend this for people interested in animal research.

We were looking for alternatives to the typically heavily promoted cruise ship activities such as the river boat and the gold panning. This was one of the several activities we did in Fairbanks besides Running Reindeer Ranch, North Pole, and the botanical gardens. We enjoyed our time here learning about the musk oxen, caribou etc. and taking photos.

I paid $10 to get in there and I wasn't even aloud to go down and see the caribou. They had closed down that section for the day because they didn't have enough employees there that day and the muskox were SO FARE away that I could barely see them. And they didn't even inform me that I would be... More

We went on a day when they were closed. Fortunately, we went about feeding time - 9-10:30. if you walk along the fenceline away from the entrance, you will see muskox up close (within 20yds!). They rest in the woods on hot mornings. BRING YOUR BUG SPRAY!!! At feeding time, the attendant shakes the fed can and the ox can... More
