It is a bit tricky to locate this nice outdoor garden that is in the University of Fairbanks campus grounds. Coming from Denali National Park, there were not really any signs that led us to it and the GPS was not calculating it correctly. It is located in the lower part of the campus.. There is a small parking lot... More

If you want to go for a beautiful walk outdoors with your family, this is a great spot. They added mazes and there are bridges for the kids to run over, beautiful flowers and plants. Birds in the trees, it's very peaceful and beautiful here. Cost is only $5.

Yes, it was a donation of $5 each. But OH MY GOSH........THE WEEDS, THE WEEDS and MORE WEEDS. Perhaps since I'm a farmer/gardener from my youth, I have higher standards!!!!! TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. I felt sorry for the plants. They were strangling from all the weeds and lack of care. WHY ADVERTISE IT AS A BOTANICAL GARDEN? In Portland, OR, where... More

Honor entrance fee was $5 for adult. Wonderful flowers even Sept 1, 2016. A few giant cabbages. Fragrant sweet peas, raspberries. And the liveliest little children's garden with a living tunnel and vine tunnel. Working paddle wheel, swinging bridge and fort. Shallow, babbling stream! Alice couldn't be happier! Take a picnic and a kid up between 2 -10. Take your... More

There is no formal admission area or visitor center. This is on the Univ of Alaska Farm property and it was an experiment station. Now it is a Botanical Garden. There is a box to put your admission money into at the entrance to the garden. There are flowers, shrubs, trees, fruit and vegetables. There is a children's garden with... More

Recommended by the visitors center, we ended up here. The day was beautiful which helped to enjoy this. Everything looked beautiful and peaceful. Perfect for picnic, walk around and looked to nature. I really enjoyed this afternoon trip.

We were looking for alternatives to the typically heavily promoted cruise ship activities such as the river boat and the gold panning. This was one of the several activities we did in Fairbanks besides Running Reindeer Ranch, North Pole, Alyeska Pipeline, and the nearby LARS. For only $5 entrance fee per person, this is a great inexpensive place to bring... More

When I was there, the lilies were doing really well. So were the cabbage and kale. The dahlias made it, though they were smaller than my hand. Lots of little pansies. Chokeberries. Any berries. Hyacinths. Oregano. Zucchini, beets, turnips. Sunflowers, even. Not doing well: peonies, apple trees. Got caught in a rare, sudden downpour here, but it was all right.

The botanical garden is part of the agricultural research activity of the University of Alaska. The garden features plants native to Alaska, which are often of intense colors. The long summer hours promote our summer flowers to be prolific. In addition, the gardens host evening programs of music from local performing groups. I have performed there more than I have...
