    Sunday, May 28th afternoon visit.
We visited around 1pm. It was not busy at all. It is free to visit, with a large parking lot. We were the only ones there for most of our visit. We had seen the pipeline and display at the Gold Dredge 8 facility the day before, but that was with bus loads of people around. Today we had a rental car and were able to visit without all of the people, and to take our time. This display is a couple miles north of town, just off the Steele highway. And just a short bit north of that, and on the west side of the road, is the Gold Dredge 8 facility. We had a very nice visit. It is fascinating. If in the area again, I would stop and revisit.

Engineering wonder totally deserves a visit
Engineering wonder. The Pipeline deserves a visit. I am sure you have heard about it, so if traveling here, do come to see it in person. The Pipeline was a gamechanger to Alaska’s economic development. After Fairbanks, we drove south to Valdez and had the opportunity to drive side by side to the pipeline for hundreds of miles. Go there. You will not be disappointed.

Great for a stop to marvel at this engineering
This is a great stop off the road. Really takes 5 minutes to see and snap a photo. You can walk right under it and if you’re tall enough even touch the bottom of the pipe. It’s an engineering marvel you can see firsthand. If you have a fat get out and see it.

    Worth the 9 mile drive
It is 9 miles away from Fairbanks, and it is free. If you have an extra 30 minutes, check it out. It's actually pretty educational, if you take the time to read the signs they provide! Even the teen found it a worthy stop.

Was amazing to see this pipeline and learn about its history. About 20 minutes north of Fairbanks - easy drive and easy to find.

A little ways from town, pretty neat pipeline information presented on the panels and you can get right up to the pipeline for a photo. Also interesting to see the pigs they use to keep things flowing and learn why the pipeline is above ground in spots.

Interesting. Not sure what I was expecting but still seemed shocked when saw that it went underground, the length and upkeep….also works inside.

This was a stop on our Arctic Circle tour. It and our guide was very informative about the pipeline, its construction, and its operation. Glad we stopped to get up close to it.

Very eye waking experience to see the technology that has gone into the pipeline. Very educational with the history of how it was built.

I stopped by here 18 years ago and this used to be a much bigger display. Now it’s more of a gee whiz on the side of the highway…not much more than a scenic outlook. It has one large sign that’s informative and has been updated to reflect how ANS production is in decline.
