Battlefield Fredericksburg is one of several battlefield sites operated by the NPS and is next to the Fredericksburg National Cemetery. Start at the Visitor Center here and pick up your map for the Sunken Road. It is quite interesting and tells a lot about the history here and what happened. The Sunken Road still has a portion of the wall... More

This is a must see for anyone looking for something to do in Fredericksburg From the "Sunken Road" where 7500 Union Soldiers became casualties in 1862 to Chatham Manor, Union HQ, to Lee's Hill. It was a fascinating walk through history. To do the battlefield tour, a car is a must however as viewpoints are spread out somewhat.

Some of the most historic and well preserved battlefield sites in the area are in Fredericksburg. The sites are always clean and well maintained and the staff go out of their way to ensure you and your family enjoy the sites! Well worth your time if you are in the area. There are a myriad of local guidebooks and audio... More

We wanted to see this historic site of a Civil War battle that was fought many years ago. I was amazed at how close this battle was waged near the city. The National Park Service has done a great job of training the tour guides... also signage is superb!!! The terraced landscape is very unique to this area which is... More

Well preserved battlefield maintained by the NPS. But finding the visitors center was a chore for my Garmin. Road signs for specific battlefields are labeled but not so well for the Fredericksburg Visitor Center.

I enjoy visiting battlefields whether if they are Civil War or American Revolution. They all have great stories to tell. Fredericksburg Battlefield is not an exception. It is a must see if you are in town. Please note that there is some hiking involved, and you may have to hike strenuous trails.

I love this town and site. Has a National cemetery and a confederate cemetery plus the battle sites. The historic downtown where action in the battle was also fought has bullet holes in buildings and many restaurants in the old buildings that are excellent. A very relaxing trip with many shops to browse or dine in.

Volunteers at the Visitors center know their history, driving tour is not well marked you will need a map and navigator. 3 Major battles occurred in this area. Films, photo's, paintings, artifacts, gift shop, free parking, clean rest rooms.

I visited and toured some Civil War battlefields that are part of the NPS "Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields. Second stop was the Battlefield of Fredericksburg where I visited the visitors center & museum, the Sunken Road, Sgt Kirkland's Memorial ( "Angel of Fredericksburg" for bringing water to the wounded enemy soldiers.), I toured the National Cemetery, and then off...
