Don't miss this chance to experience the geological history of our planet. Many amazing fossils which have been preserved from ancient lakes nearby. Very knowledgeable staff, beautiful facility. Small gift shop at Visitors Center. Hikes nearby.

We stopped into the museum on a rainy day so we didn't walk around outdoors much. Inside we saw their collection of fossils and watched the video explaining the geology of the area. It was very well done and it really made me want to...More

Take time to walk along the timeline of history on the boardwalk leading up to and around the museum. Very interesting. The museum itself is very educational and sets the tone for any hiking around you may do. We took the moderate 1.5 mile hike...More

My wife and I visited with our 8, 10, and 12 year old sons. The displays were informative, and the videos held the interest of the children without being childish. The Ranger was knowledgeable and enthusiastic on the subject matter. We only went to the...More

Fossil Butte is just to the W of Kemmerer. The visitor center has a wonderful series of exhibits on the history of a 50 million year old lake, now a source of facinating marine fossils. If you visit pay attention to the Burma-shave-esque historical time...More
