This Queen Anne Victorian was once the residence of George C. Marshall, the architect of the plan for European recovery after World War II. Marshall occupied the home, one of two Officers' Row houses currently open to the public, when he was the commander of the Vancouver barracks.

It was fun to walk through the open areas of the Marshall House. Many antiques to see. It's free to enter, and there were free postcards too.

The Marshall House was built in 1886. It’s the only house on Officer’s Row built in the Queen Anne style and the only one to have stain glass windows. It is by far the most impressive and eye catching of the houses on this site. The Marshall House is on the National Historic Register and is managed by the City... More

made them open this after the Grant's house was so crowded, especially in the tourist season. The menu is more a ladies lunch salads, soup and sandwiches. The Marshall house was much more elegant as befitted the commander. Grant was only a quarter master being a mathematician and all.

This beautiful house is well preserved and open most days for touring. The volunteer staff is friendly and well versed in the homes history. If you are visiting Vancouver, or just want a good history lesson you need to stop here.

Wonderful selection of soups, salads and entrees. Cozy, historical location with local history of the early days in the Northwest. Beautiful grounds, great service and excellent Northwest cuisine.

I personally used to work at the Fort in high school and still love it there. History comes to life in this house, and all around the Fort. The Marshall House has so many fun aspects (the ceiling frescos, the to-the-floor windows, the gold-dust and ruby-flake painting in the dining room). Best of all is that tours are always free.... I've had several events here and am always impressed. Beautiful home, the pics turn out amazing and the surrounding area is tranquil and peaceful. Great for family reunion, anniversary, wedding, etc. Value was good last time I checked but it has been a couple years. Little piece of history in the 'Couve.

The George Marshall House is on officer's row in Fort Vancouver Park, a 20 minute ride from Portland, Oregon. We had a knowledgeable volunteer docent who described the period in which General Marshall and his wife lived in this house. It has wonderful memorabilia and we learned a lot about Marshall. Highly recommended. There is a restaurant in the Grant... More
