You will be humbled as you stroll along the many who have earned the right to be interned here. You will enjoy the beautiful grounds as you take in the historic grave markers- some dating back to the civil war.

Fort Smith's National Cemetery is an awesome, yet solemn reminder of the heroes who gave their service to our country. So very thankful that it is beautifully maintained, decorated at Christmas, and has a place of honor in Fort Smith.

A beautiful and well maintained place. I visit it at least yearly because my parents are both buried there.

I'm was able to run in my hometown of Fort Smith Arkansas today. Ran through historic district and then through the National Cemetery there. So beautiful! And so powerful. With 1000's of graves and each sacrificed for a greater good and for freedom we all enjoy.

This is a very solemn place. I recommend going when you have time to take in what you are looking at. Thanks to all those that are working here and to all those who served and remain there.

On special occasions all the graves are each adorned with an American flag! This is a special sight to see. This is hallowed ground for those of us who have lost loved ones who have this cemetery as their final resting place.

It is amazing how each head stone is in perfect formation with the rest of them. This is honoring our fallen soldiers, perfect formation even after the end.

We spent the night in Fort Smith on our way to Branson. While touring the downtown sights in the early evening light, we inadvertently stumbled upon the National Cemetery there. There was expansive and impressive array of headstones, depicting immediate casualties and survivors who had also served in conflicts from recent, Middle East action, back to the conflagration of the... This was the first time I have attended a funeral at the National Cemetery. I really admired the detail they put into the service. Our Veteran's deserve this honor .

I was very sad to see so many unknowns. Sad to think no one could name them. But I know in the civil war so many never got graves. Beautiful cemetery. Each one holds an untold story.
