This was our first visit to Savannah. The visitors center should be a first stop for everyone. There is a short free movie about the history of Savannah. they have all the information you need to plan your visit along with a gift shop. There is a museum that you have to pay to get in that we did not... More

The picture seems wrong for this(I think this lighthouse is at Tybee Island, not the visitors center) but the visitors center had tons of free literature and maps. Stop at it first thing. There is also a gift shop. I think it's in an old train station. We try to go every year to get new materials

The visitor's center was very helpful and provided great information about the city and things to do (this was a rainy sounds). We asked about the Dot free shuttle ( runs on a 20 minute loop), but would recommend walking since the city is only about 1 mile by 1 mile square. We waited for Dot at one point but... More

Be sure and visit the Visitor Center for a $7.00 parking pass. Good at parking meters and major garages. Saves tons over valet parking at hotel, $21.00 per day at our hotel.

We spent a good 45 minutes here right after we arrived, getting a bearing on all that we wanted to do. The staff were incredibly helpful and gave us so many great options and advice. It's a great place to start as this was our first visit to Savannah.

Great AV intro to the city, Call from here for rooms, good discount offers. You may still get a better deal just walking in and asking for a deal, but having checked here, you will know if it is a deal or not.
