This historic house is furnished with antique and furnishings collected by Alida Harper-Fowlkes. It serves as the headquarters for the Society of the Cincinnati where they read her will yearly. Love the exterior and interior architecture especially the elliptical ceiling opening between the 1st and...More

If you only tour one mansion I suggest this one...they take you thru two of the three floors and are thorough in their history lesson. Our guide was Richard (I believe!) and was very patient with questions and just delightful. We actually just happened onto...More

The Harper Fowlkes house has wonderful chandeliers that have been electrified. The Faux wood painted dining room walls are amazing. The moldings throughout the home are lovely. The docents are friendly and welcoming. It is located in a quiet part of Savannah---Orleans Square and well...More

Ok so I know "Hidden Gem" sounds like a corny title but it's true. I didn't find this house in any of my tourism research but stumbled across it by pure chance. It's a beautiful house, the only renovations done were in 1890 and yes,...More

I enjoyed this tour. Why there were extra doors put in a room. The uniqued air venting system and how the owner had the backyard created to look like the rest of the house AFTER she passed.

Visited Harper Fowlkes House as a part of Architectural course taken at Learning Center. The house is impressive and offers evidence of various architectural designs. The garden in the rear of the house and porch are lovely.

The home's architecture and furnishings were stunning, but the story of the owner - a woman definitely ahead of her time - was worth the price of admission. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and told her story beautifully.

Our group of 5 stopped in and were given a personal tour! We loved learning about the historical intentions for Savannah in the 1700s, how this house was built and renovated over the years, and the last owner, Elita, and how she became a force...More

I selected this house after reading it had been kept in the same family for over 100 years, thinking there would be a large amount of interesting items. I also liked the idea that Alida Fowlkes was a somewhat self-made woman. The nicest thing about...More
