The SCAD Museum of Art was founded in 2002 as part of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. The museum's collection of more than 4,500 pieces includes works of haute couture, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints and more. The SCAD Museum of Art is a teaching museum, serving Savannah College of Art and Design students and as well as members of the community and other visitors. A focal point is the Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies, a multidisciplinary center for the study, understanding and appreciation of African American culture, art and literature. It is complemented by the André Leon Talley Gallery, named for the Vogue contributing editor and SCAD Board of Trustees member. The museum also features a 250-seat theater, a terrace and outdoor projection screen, a conservation studio, a museum café, as well as a 12-foot-long orientation touch table. An 86-foot tall steel and glass lantern welcomes visitors and elegantly redefines the Savannah city skyline.

As a part of the Savannah College of Art & Design, the SCAD MUSEUM of Art is a wonderful extension of the College's mission. Impressive displays of both previous SCAD student contributors and other exquisite artists line the galleries. Conveniently located. Cool, air-conditioned galleries provide...More

We were disappointed by the exhibitions... they have to review their choice which are so so! The place itself is perfect!

We stumbled onto this thanks to the advice of the curator of another museum. It was delightful. We walked through all of the main galleries and saw work that was fascinating.

Great work, but museum was too small and had not enough art. All the employees were super nice and offered to answer any questions about the art in every room. Street metered parking. Beautiful large space. A tiny cafe and museum store. Great design, good-enough...More

After taking a tour of SCAD. We were able to visit the museum for free. It is small yet with interesting exhibits. The building is beautiful with a modern feel. Although there were SCAD students to answer any questions. We did not have any. A...More

Since it was only $10.00 It was worth it. Would have been very upset if I paid more. Very small - interesting works throughout. Was hoping to see a collection of current students works. Glad we went - would not go back on our next...More

It was worth the visit, the docents were all SCAD students and very knowledgeable. It is in a old building and that too was interesting. Enjoyed it very much.

There were some magnificent exhibits when we visited. I was totally floored by some of the stuff! The detail, and "How'd they do that" ! There was history and thought, talent, imagination! Thought provoking! It was wonderful. I'd like to go back the next time...More

I agree that this is a good art museum for families-not just galleries of paintings. That said, some twelve year old boys might not find this as interesting as other outdoor activities in the area.

I don't recall the price of admission. The museum is open to the public, no SCAD connection is necessary. They have student docents who approach you if you look bewildered and have questions, and they're a great resource... More
