Great place for hiking or a scenic drive. Drive into the park and park by the trailhead. Lots of animals! Gorgeous views!! The section between green pond and goose pond was my favorite!

What a beautiful drive through HNWR! I saw many beautiful birds I'd never seen before and even a couple of armadillos. The trees are beautiful in their natural state and dripping with Spanish Moss. There is even history to this refuge....definitely worth a drive through.

We had visited 2 years before and loved seeing a variety of birds and little alligators cohabitating. This year we were treated to some extra surprises. Yes, the little alligators were still in the ponds, as were a variety of ducks and shorebirds; however, there...More

4 miles drive and lots of walks, including a well hidden pond full of burds. Storks nest in the spring; ducks and spoonbills come in the winter; and we saw snakes and one oppossum. Not big but excellent and within 2 hours from Hilton head....More

Harris Neck is a terrific place for birdwatchers. There are 5 fresh water ponds (Snipe Pond was being dredged at the time of our visit) with a lot of ducks and waders. We found the birds were not too skittish, so you could get good...More

Lovely quiet drive with viewing opportunity for wildlife. Saw birds of many types. The Spanish moss on trees was so pretty. Enjoyed this and worth 7 mile drive off main hwy. hiking available.

No, it is free and you can pick up a map when you first turn in. There is a portable restroom there, but none in the park. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
