Located near historic Savannah, this park borders Skidaway narrows, a part of Georgia’s intracoastal waterway. Trails wind through maritime forest and past salt marsh, leading to a boardwalk and observation tower. Visitors can watch for deer, fiddler crabs, raccoon, egrets and other wildlife. Inside the park’s interpretive center, birders will find binoculars, reference books and a window where they can look for migrating species such as Painted Buntings. Children will especially enjoy seeing the towering, 20-foot Giant Ground Sloth replica and reptile room. A scenic campground is nestled under live oaks and Spanish moss, while groups can enjoy privacy in their own pioneer campgrounds. Open-air picnic shelters and an enclosed group shelter are popular spots for parties, reunions and other celebrations.

Nice camping but pricey

Nice and clean but I thought it was a bit pricey for a state park, however, there is water hook up on a $40 site. About a 30 min trip to Savannah.

The facilities are a bit on the tired side and the parks sees a lot of use due to it's convenient location. The staff are friendly and the $5/day parking fee is easy on the wallet. There are lots of well-marked trails that are suitable for all ages and walking styles. It's a great place to sneak away for a... More

fair amount of museum pieces. outdoor activities are mostly trail walks to the marsh areas. more reconstructed out buildings would enhance the area.

We stayed here in our Motorhome. Wonderful sites. Lots so spaces and tons of room at each space. Full hook-ups if you want. We hike the trails and they are flat and fun. Well marked. This park is very well taken care of

We now live in the Savannah area and finally had the chance to hike at the Skidaway Island State Park. It was beautiful! Parts of trail are closed from the Hurricane Matthew but it was no issue. We priced camping which is WAY over priced but we were just pricing anyway. The nature center was small but very informative and... More

We have stayed at Skidaway Island State Park Campground several times in the past month, to include spending our Christmas there. We have reserved sites in all sections of the campground and have used both full hook-up sites as well as the water and electric only sites and have not had seen a bad site in the campground. The bath-house... More

Everything else was closed on New Year's Day so we ended up here. The nature trails are very good. There are quite a few roots so if you have any issues with walking on uneven surfaces it might not be for you. It was a good place to go relax after NYE and let the dogs get some exercise.

My husband and I camped here in our camper van on our way to Texas and warmer weather. We only spent two nights here so the review will be based on a short visit in a cold spell! The sites are relatively private sites with live oaks festooned with Spanish moss. According to the ranger, Hurricane Matthew came through in... More

This was our second time staying here. I really enjoyed my stay. The restrooms were clean and warm, most of the lots could fit a variety of sized trailers. We didn't have a pull through, but it was still even to get into.

I went to visit with wife and two kids. They have an information center that does not look great on the outside but has plenty of info inside. In addition, the ranger lady knows a lot and explains to the public about alligators and other creatures. They also have bird feeders with lots of birds in the back of the... More
