When in Savannah, you have to go to Old Fort Jackson especially if you have children! There is an interactive history presentation that gets the audience involved in it! We watched as Aaron Bradford used children from the audience to demonstrate how signals were sent...More

This old fort is very close to Savannah on the way to Tybee Island. It is well preserved. The staff / re-enactors are knowledgeable. There are cannon firings twice daily.

The Fort is well maintained and offers excellent live history lessons and cannon firing--using volunteers visiting the Fort. There are also a number of displays to view as you walk through the Fort. A fun experience that only take 1-2 hours.

We really enjoyed learning about how Fort Jackson played a part in Savannah's history from Mr. McDonough, our presenter. He made our trip memorable!

We had a wonderful time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We got to see 2 cannons fired on our tour. The guide kept it fun and interesting using volunteers, and the audience. Excellent for all ages. I definitely recommend when visiting Savannah.

Cannon firing presentations include a history of the site and its significance. When kids visit, we try to make our programming as interactive as possible, including mock drill and marching.
