Who knew Savannah was a hub of Jewish life so long ago? This tour was unexpectedly robust, and our guide was a very friendly congregant whose pride in the Temple was infectious. The actual synagogue in particular was impressive, and it was cool to understand how these original Georgian Jews made their way to Savannah. Definitely worth a visit!

I stopped by to see the Temple and was invited to join them for services and lunch as there was a guest speaker. The building is beautiful and the congregation welcoming.

We spent over an hour here and took the tour for $8 per person. A very beautiful and unusual Jewish Synagogue. The tour was given by a very knowledgeable member of this Synagogue. Should not be missed.

This temple, with its guided tour and museum, was a pleasant surprise. I've visited temples all over the world, but was unaware of this one, which dates to 1733, when small groups came from Portugal (via England) and to create the congregation. The architecture of the temple is church-like, unlike most temples, with pews, a nave, and transept. The exhibits,... More

We had never been to Savannah, GA before - it was the third city we visited on our Inter-coastal river cruise. We had heard about Congregation Mickve Israel during our morning city tour, and decided to go back and visit it in the afternoon. The Congregation has a wonderful and important history. It is the third oldest Congregation in the... More
