This square is named after the USA--"Columbia, the gem of the ocean!" Grab a bench and just enjoy. In the middle of the square
is the Wormsloe Fountain, in honor of Wormsloe Plantation. an early plantation, off Skidaway Rd. On the western side is the stunning Queen Anne Victorian home built for William Kehoe, who owned an iron foundry in Savannah. Check out all the decoration and trim on the Kehoe, which is now a Bed & Breakfast Inn, and you will see that it is iron. Kehoe was showing off the versatility of iron. In the early 60's, Quarterback Joe Namath purchased the house for a little over $80,000, with the idea that he would turn it into a Playboy Club, but historic preservation was in full swing then and a Playboy Club didn't fit the narrative. Joe sold the house at a profit and moved on. On the south side of the square is the
Davenport House, circa 1820, built by a talented carpenter/builder who came from New England to make his fortune. He is credited with building one of the fine examples of Federal Style architecture in the South. Yet he had no training in architecture. The house is
known for the beauty of its free-standing cantilevered stairway.
On the south side, turning left on York St. is the new Webb Military Museum.

This is one of many beautiful squares in Savannah. It has a small but lovely fountain - apparently, the oldest fountain in Savannah. A nice spot to stop by and take pictures or just rest and enjoy the view.

We were staying at Kehoe house which is on the corner of this square and so we saw the square every day. It is again a pretty and relaxing square. Fountain and oak trees.

One of the smaller of the many lovely squares in the Savannah historic district. A nice little park with a fountain. With its size and location, this one feels a little more peaceful than many of the other squares. It was a great place to relax as we waited for our tour time at the nearby Davenport House.

We walked through it a few times last weekend and thought it was really cute and quaint. Nice fountain in the center and a very peaceful quiet place to relax.

This square is ground zero of the revitalization of the historic district as the Davenport House was threatened with demolition and citizens came together to save it. The main feature of the square is an historic fountain.

I love Columbia Square, it is one of my favorites. What I would do to be able to live across the street from it! I adore fountains and water features and could sit near this one for hours. This square is small and peaceful and the burnished fountain is very charming.

This square is small but is shaded with lovely trees and has a fountain. All the squares are worth visiting just to enjoy the loveliness of the individual squares. Amazing how these were placed and thought out so long ago. This one was designed in 1799, WOW!

The center of the square features the fountain moved there from the Wormsloe Plantation. The trees surrounding the fountain are some of the larges in Savannah. On the west side you will soon see the Davenport house with beautiful gardens. A very mice square with easy parking around the area.

Quieter and smaller than many of the squares, Columbia has an interesting history; in 1971, a descent of colonist Noble Jones restored and placed a fountain from Wormsloe Plantation in the centre of the square. The Davenport House, the first house saved by 7 ladies who formed the Hihstoric Savannah Foundation, is also located nearby.
