Several headstones are put aside as the union soldiers were encamped there while Grant held Savannah. Boredom ensued and they changed dates, births, deaths, sex, names....it gives one a look at the time period.

The cemetery is a great place to stroll, with wide walkways and interesting historical information markers. We did not have time to take a Ghost Tour, but this would be the place to take one.

Try to get a tour. guide if possible. Lots of detail a stroll can't reveal. But a lovely place to see regardless.

There's not a lot here--a few interesting pictures. More of a park to walk around on way to another square.

We walked around this entire cemetery. There are so many stories here and a few famous people. The signs were very informative of who these people were and what happened to them. Some of the stones are so old it's hard to believe it's been...More

Different than Bonaventure: and worth checking out. The back wall has all the tombstones that were displaced during the war, and is beautiful in it's own right.

The citizens of Savannah used this cemetery from 1750 to 1853. Many grave stones are to old to read. There are many history markers that do explain about the Historical people who are buried here. This cemetery was desiccated by Union soldiers. Cemetery is said...More
