The spa was pleasant but I was expecting a much more luxurious experience. I had a diamond facial and mystical massage. The technicians were very professional and did a good job but I felt like the pricing was exorbitant. I have had many facials and massages and have never paid that much. A 20% gratuity is presented to you when you arrive with the notion that you can lower it after your service, if you choose to.

The massage with Paige was the best I’ve had. After living in other places and traveling during my 40+ years, I have had a number of spa experiences. In fact, I’m not a huge massage person. I love a good facial or pedicure. The spa at Nemacolin was great and Paige changed my mind regarding the massage service. Paige is highly skilled and knowledgeable about massages. I recommend this service if you are heading to Nemacolin.

Top notch experience. The facility has everything you could ever want or need and more. Simply amazing. Make sure to reserve a spot at the Fireside Lounge to get the full experience. Not a single negative to say about this place. The ambiance alone is outstanding.

My husband was sent here for a conference/seminar. Offered a King bed Lodge room same rate single or double occup. Supposed to be the cheapest of the three (Chateau, townhouses and the lodge) but this was A#1! Perfect! Tons of things to do there, lots of collectables to look at, lots of restaurants on premises, and much much more. Watch for March and April special rates! This is their slow season. Very friendly staff. A gorgeous and romantic place to stay. Highly recommend! Website does not do it justice. Our lodge room had a separate jacquzi tub that was a surprise because it was never mentioned on website or paperwork. Extra big regular bathtub and much more. You will need a map for indoor and outdoor activities because its a maze but its easy after you've been there a day. Can't wait to go back!

I’ve been to this spa several times and previously regarded it as a quiet, peaceful sanctuary. During my most recent visit, it was anything but peaceful or serene.

On the top floor of the spa is a room that is supposed to be a quiet relaxation room. During my recent visit, there were large groups of women chatting at normal volumes and laughing loudly. The noise level only increased as they were served alcohol and lunch in the relaxation room. I was under the impression that food is only to be served in the lobby area. I also found it bothersome and annoying to be repeatedly interrupted and asked if I was Mrs. X, Y, or Z as spa attendees were searching for other guests for their service.

Additionally, the spa is unfortunately not a cell phone free zone. Numerous guests had their cell phones out in the relaxation room taking photos and talking. Most egregiously, guests had their cell phones out in the locker room and were even taking photographs where women were changing clothes and in various states of undress.

I highly encourage management to add no cell phone signage to the locker room & relaxation areas and to enforce a strict no cell phone policy except for limited areas of the facility, such as the lobby. I’d also encourage signage in the relaxation room asking guests to keep their voices to a whisper and be mindful of noise level. Perhaps, a separate area is needed for large groups who wish to socialize? I’d also encourage management to find a better way to track guests so that others don’t have to be repeatedly asked if they are someone else. I won’t continue to be a repeat guest if the noise and cell phone use continues.

Thank you for staying at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. We appreciate you taking your time to report this issue to the resort staff. We apologize for the service you experienced at the spa. This is not the standard we strive for here at Nemacolin. We base our services on exceeding expectations and we apologize that as a team we failed to hold those values. Your feedback has been passed along to management and will be addressed. We hope that you will consider us again in the future.

I enjoyed the two spa treatments I received here. The reflexology pointed out some tender spots in my body which I had been ignoring. After my feet and legs felt so refreshed that even the Cave walk didn't hurt. My facial was a wonderful experience that left my skin and wrinkles refreshed. The extra touch involving the warm "gloves " for the hands and feet increased my wonderful feeling.
All the surroundings of each area from lockers, waiting rooms, and treatment areas were so nice with soft lighting plus calming music. The wondrous smells, fireplaces and snacks just topped it off. The staff were tops and so friendly making you feel like you were each so special. Loved it all.

A visit to the Woodlands Spa is certainly worth adding to your Nemacolin Woodlands Resort visit. The spa is expansive and the room where you wait for services is lovely and peaceful. There are comfy lounges all around the room, with a fireplace in the center, hot tea, water, snacks, music, etc.. Lovely.

Service providers are very considerate and competent, and the services have hefty price tags to go along with the experience, but worth treating yourself. Plus you have access to all of the areas in the spa whenever you have a treatment - pools, steam room, sauna, etc.

My masseuse Beth was amazing! It was my first time getting a hot stones massage and I loved it so much I almost fell asleep! Beth was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable. The spa is very relaxing, clean and beautiful. Lockers are available to store away your items. You may enjoy amenities such as sauna and whirlpool.

The spa at Nemacolin is nice, but average. I did not try any of their treatments, they seemed a bit pricey to me. My wife and daughter took advantage of the resort credits, facial and nail treatments. Under 16 they go to a separate kid's grove spa. Daughter felt that it was middle of the road. She did nails.

Wife got a facial, thought the value was good, not great.

Overall amenities in spa were ok. if you are getting a treatment, access to locker room, wet area (sauna, steam, whirlpool, indoor pool) are included. otherwise it is $20 per person, on top of your $20 per room/ night resort fee. While there was eucalyptus in the steam room, a nice touch, there was room for improvement. They could definitely upgrade the wet area to include such things as "rain room" aroma therapy room, etc.

This is mainly a Spa review and the ratings reflect the mens locker room and Spa experience. Wish we could have done more at the resort but nearly everything was closed for renovation OR because a corporate event that was there and using the facilities. (Also wish they would have told us that upon making a reservation.) Our options were basically shooting and the casino. (Couldn't each watch football in the bar - it was closed on this Sept weekend).

So the Spa - I've been before (10yrs ago) and even bragged on how nice this one is. I travel extensively and find myself in a resort style spa about once per month - most in the 4-5 star range. Regretfully this beats in a bad way the dismal effort of my previous worst spa listing (Formerly known as 'Hilton Las Vegas'). I even went back to get pictures after all this ended as I was in utter disbelief that Nemacolin allowed this to happen.

I will shortcut as best as I can:

1) Wonderful setting and pleasant check-in staff

2) Upon opening locker - I soon found I was given a key to someone else's stuff. I quickly gave it to locker room attendant who simply told me "Just leave in the lock. Maybe they will come back for it". Why I'm not the type who would take things - I sure wouldn't be happy if I was the other person. (an hour later BTW the locker was still open with that mans personal affects available to all.

2.5) I locked my phone and asked if he would alert me when my appointment check-in time was. He said he would as the clocks were broken in the locker room area. (not joking - can't believe it)

3) After a shower - I head to the steam/sauna/whirlpool. A door on the left to the whirlpool and door straight ahead to an outside deck I would guess - couldn't tell. So armed in my towel I pop my head out the door and step out onto a nice deck that would take you to the common pool. OK- I try to go back in, but the door is locked. I'm stuck outside now in a towel. (NO, there was NO sign on the door.). What to do - I explored - yep, still in a towel. Eventually walked down to the main pool and came in the back of indoor pool and back upstairs. I just kept ahold of my towel.

4) Tried the whirlpool. didn't work. Pain is peeling on the walls. By the water station there is something brown and unsightly dripping down the walls. It was dirty.

5) Sauna - rotting wood and trim all around. (pics)

6) Steam room (the overhead light had bugs in it and ugly stains). Some of the caulk had mildew around it in the room. (pics)

7) Whirlpool still not working. Went to get locker staff again. He came down and pushed the same button I did. (He had NO idea what he was doing). He told me he would go get help and be right back.

8) I sat down - went to the water jug. The water was warm. But there was an ice bucket . . . but no ice. There was the cold towel bin - but they were room temp wet towels. Dirty cups next the water jug. (which were still there 2 hours later after my treatment). (Pics)

9) I waited for my helper to come back - as he said he would. So I sat an waited.
The clock in that room (don't know if the right time) but I sat there for 30 minutes getting more and more aggravated.

10) Little do I know that my wife (couples massage) along with my therapist were now looking for me.

Finally walked upstairs to find the locker helper as clueless as before. I asked why he didn't come back. He had no answer.

I was rushed upstairs in a furious state. The therapist likely did a good job, but I had zero enjoyment or relaxation as I was so angry at the situation.

Would some of this happen other places- yeah maybe. But at this place? It was the worst $300 spa treatment I've ever had. (80 mins couples massage - so $600 really)

the locker room attendant was the laughing stock at our dinner with fellow guests that night. Everyone with their own story of "Oh yeah, well listen to what he did/said or what happened . . . "

From a frequent spa traveler - you need to skip this one in a BIG WAY until renovations, training or new help arrives. (Can't speak for the women's side though).
