Seal the hatch!!! Dive dive dive
Very cool to see what would life be like under the sea in a submarine, not a yellow submarine but a war ship. There was a lot to take in and explore and not a problem with Close quarters. It’s really wasnt to tight for the time we were aboard. Walking through each compartment and imagining how a sailor life was excited and intense. Almost wanted me to join to be part of a mission. Overall, full of information, fun to explore and easy on the legs, sea legs that is.

Being a WWII Submariner would have Sucked!
This was a very cool experience with two hilarious and very knowledgeable guides. Each tour of this vessel is guided and takes about 30 minutes. They do not allow you to roam freely, because there is VERY little room to maneuver. If you are claustrophobic and/or do not enjoy tight places, you might want to skip this one. The interior of the vessel is in good repair and the guides take you through the daily life of a submariner while showing you every compartment and all of the vital components of the vessel. Tickets for this ship also get you access to the USS Constellation, Lightship LV116 Chesapeake, and USCG Cutter 37. Tickets are not expensive, but parking can be. Your best bet is to just bite the bullet and park in one of the public garages along the waterfront. Parking is available on some streets, but good luck finding a spot… plus you’ll have to pay the meter anyway. Additionally, there are numerous very good restaurants all along the waterfront as well.

    Best Living Museum!
Love this “living museum” next to the aquarium! My teens were not into the aquarium but wanted to visit Baltimore and this is a unique experience! The view is nice if you are not as mobile, with seats around the outside of the ship. Very unique experience better than any “box” museum!

Took my wife and 3 young kids to see this submarine. Didn't expect much but immediately upon descending into the submarine, we were all quite amazed. Very well maintained showing how sailors lived, worked, fought, slept, ate and kept clean inside a submarine during WWII. It's a fairly large submarine with some neat inside exhibits, including the Captain's Table set with silverware from those times.

The tickets purchase includes a visit to the nearby USS Constellation, a clipper style war sail ship from the war of 1862, I believe. Every day at noon, they shoot off cannons. Exploring this ship was equally interesting for all of us. Again, very well maintained with interesting exhibits including where surgery is performed on sailors, including a saw used to conduct amputations! The ship has 4 levels down to explore. Having three kids aged 5, 7 and 9, the questions were unending and exhausting! :-)

Seeing how people lived and survived in those hard days, really makes one appreciate life today.

The submarine is right next to the aquarium. The ship is about a 5-10 minute walk to the next pier and can be easily seen from the aquarium.

The Torsk is a living chapter out of history ·-- not distant history, but our American history of living memory. See and feel just how the submariners lived and fought; school groups can arrange for overnights to see what it was like to sleep in a narrow bunk in windowless space... and to think about the dedication of the warriors who did so at the risk of their lives.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to climb inside the tight space of a WWII era submarine. This attraction provides a detailed look into life aboard a sub.

Take the time to read the information provided with each exhibit. It provides a wealth of additional information about daily life on the Torsk. For instance, they had a machining area on the ship. As parts wore out or were damaged there is no place out at sea to get new parts. They had to make their own replacement parts in the machining area.

One note of warning, if you are claustrophobic this might not be the tour for you. Also, if you are taller than six foot you will have some difficulty maneuvering through the Torsk. The doorway openings from room to room are quite small.

One of the few surviving WW2 subs available for tour. Like many, this is maintained by a financially-challenged historical group who are doing their best with limited resources. The sub shows its age but is still in good condition overall. The interior is well-labeled. Overall, I would recommend if your are into this kind of thing.

The engineering is amazing. Very cool look into submarine technology. Problem was getting big body through small hatches and not hitting head. Ouch! Was stuffy and hot in summer. Entrance fee gets you into 3 ships around inner harbor. USS Constellation. A very interesting look into live on a sub.

This is an amazing WW2 submarine. I was the only person walking through it so I got to really check it out. I would have liked to see more signage and access to the periscope area. Other then that, go see it before there are no more WW2 submarines available to walk through left anymore.

We were looking for an activity to do in the afternoon as they were calling for torrential rain and opted for the Historic Ships of Baltimore.

Didn’t regret it at all. Not too expensive for 4 very different ships. The USS Torsk was by far our favorite. Easy to buy tickets to, it’s a self-guided tour. It is really impressive how well maintained it is.

How many times you can access to a submarine. This is a must when you go to Baltimore! The history behind the Torsk is great and having the chance to be inside is an honor. There are so many things to see. We took the $15 tour that includes 2 ships out of 4 that are on exhibition. If you have more time you can get the $18 for the 4 ships. Tours are self guided.

Gives you a real appreciation for how these sailors lived back in the early times of the sub service

The USS Torsk is a hidden gem in the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Located near the famous Baltimore Aquarium, the Torsk is well-worth a visit. They even offer over-night visits, which bring to life this incredible piece of US history.
